Stalker
in the Advanced igor guide it says that you need to make a defend station plan step after the cover plan step for fixed gun plans. but how would that work?? if the cover duration is set to 0.00 it won't execute the defend station plan step that follows and if the cover duration is set to 4.00 for example it's useless..... I have never used the defend zone/station in my sniper or fixed gun plans and it works great....
XmanL
Look at the original mission... I did like them... and it works fine too Dunno why you need them :S
porschefan8
just set in to something like 6000 seconds so that the mission is long over before the time expires.
kukomamasan
Well i did some testing, nothing like testing when unsure so i made a whole bunch of machineguns lined up, and same actors behind everyone, and assigned covers and patch and combat roes and stuff different for all of them ) and the result is: you only need to make a cover arc on the machine gun you want the actor to use, the defence station is useless in my case. i found out if an actor has the plan properties (any) combat roe, he wouldent grap the machinegun I have never used the defend zone/station in my sniper or fixed gun plans and it works great.... Now the one that absolutely dident work was these, without a cover arc above the machinegun. Would like to know how you did it stalker. I even made a soldier that had no guns, the first thing he did when shooting started, was running away kukomamasan
Jack57
the defence station is useless in my case Well you have to consider that the purpose if the DefenseStation is to encourage the actor to maintain his position @Stalker - DefenseStations are not a plan step. They are an object quite seperate from the plan. Stations (or “Defense Stations”) are used by specific plan steps to produce specific actions for Actors. For example, a sniper that the user doesn’t want to have move around needs a Station. A Station must be created and closely match the Cover Arc in the plan. All together, this causes an Actor to stay in place and keenly observe the area defined by his Cover Arc and Station,
kukomamasan
Well you have to consider that the purpose if the DefenseStation is to encourage the actor to maintain his position Well i did test if they would like to use the machinegun if i forced them away too, throwing a nade would make them run a bit, and in both cases they would return to the gun and grap it again. So again im having dificulties see why the use of defence station is needed when actors should grap a machinegun. Stalker
the defence station is useless in my case Well you have to consider that the purpose if the DefenseStation is to encourage the actor to maintain his position when the movement roe is set to all costs he won't move.. @Stalker - DefenseStations are not a plan step. Jack57
The guys at RSE have told us how they work, as I quoted above. While it is true that it is not essential to have a Defense Station in order to get an actor to use a stationery gun, their purpose may be more subtle. There is certainly no reason not to use them.
