i would like someone to help me with a little experiment.

i am making a marine for each environment, nothing spectacular, just a nice little addition, and i discovered something weird... the desert .rsb in game was not completely matching the one i made in PS. i had used the same body armor and boots but i changed the BDU to desmarpat and the green gloves to brown, plus added an American flag to the sleeve. when i tested the new skin in game the gloves were green and the flag patch was missing but the marpat was desert! weird right? so i began some tests, i used the air brush to mark colors on different areas of the 3 .rsbs i was using named Marine_rifleman.rsb, Marine_rifleman_desert.rsb, and Marine_rifleman_cuba.rsb respectivly. in orgimiss and mp2 my markings showed up appropriately but not in the desert environment. i then used an entirely different skin w/ no marpat at all and still, desmarpat w/ green gloves. it would seem i had no control over the desert skin. how would the game register the desert marpat unless there is already a desert marine file included somewhere? i have never found one in the folder, so i am thinking hard coded, this would also explain why my file is not taking priority.

here is a copy of the .atr:

<ActorFile>

<VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

<ArmorLevel>3</ArmorLevel>

<FolderName>specialist</FolderName>

<ActorName>Casey Ross</ActorName>

<ClassName>support</ClassName>

<ModelFace>ICE_rus_19.rsb</ModelFace>

<BlinkFaceName>ICE_rus_19_blink.rsb</BlinkFaceName>

<ActionFaceName/>

<ShellFaceName/>

<KitPath>hero\marine</KitPath>

<ModelName>Marine_rifleman.chr</ModelName>

<DesertLOD1>Marine_rifleman_desert.chr</DesertLOD1>

<JungleLOD1>Marine_rifleman_cuba.chr</JungleLOD1>

<Weapon>5</Weapon>

<Stamina>5</Stamina>

<Stealth>1</Stealth>

<Leadership>3</Leadership>

</ActorFile>

you might think off the bat; the .chr is not assigned to the right .rsb, but its is, and you might also think i have other mods active, but i don't.

if anyone wants to try this:

1. copy the marine_rifleman file from the mp2 folder and paste it into a mod folder

2. rename it to Marine_rifleman_desert.chr

3. set up the .atr simalar to above

4. make any .rsb file- marine_rifleman_desert.rsb and using the skinner tool assing the file to marine_rifleman_desert.chr

5. test in game

it will be interesting to see if anyone gets a similar results
