Old games I`m looking for: - Undying - Silent hill II - Thief I-II - System shock II - Deus EX - NOLFII New ones coming up: - Half life II - Doom III - STALKER - OPFII - Brothers in arms - GRII - DriverIII - The movies - H&DII addon - FEAR - FSW - Silent Hunter III I mean how can I buy all this stuff, I`m getting more and more picky when it comes to games, not only couse I don`t have enough money to buy it all but because of time as well. WhiteKnight77 1 Posted June 14, 2004 Share Posted June 14, 2004 You can always do like I do. I may buy a game or 2 when I get my tax refund checks (if you live in the US you should know about those). Other times, I may get a game for my b-day or Christmas as presents. The key is I don't ask for a whole lot so I get the games I really want. Play the demos if available. see in-game movies, and not the commercial for it. Know what games you really enjoy. If your not too sentimental about the games you played before, trade it for another game. Check the clearance bin/isle. See what games has mod potential. more mods, more game time for free. budgie 1 Posted June 15, 2004 Share Posted June 15, 2004 I went through a period from about 1998-2002 when there were good, innovative new games coming out all the time. Generally I played all the demos to see if I liked them (fileplanet.com, gamespot.com or PC Gamer magazine provided these). It turned out that although a lot of the demos were fun, many of the games would probably not keep me rapt for long. Still I ended up getting on average two games a quarter and played through what I feel were the best years of gaming. Lately I haven't been grabbed by anything. Occasionally over the past year I'd get a bargain bin oldie I missed first time round. The only new game I've played this year is Far Cry. I am almost into a career change and a big move which means very little time for gaming. I will probably get VBS-1 in the next couple of months and that will be the only 'game' I play for the rest the year, although I will probably spend more time making missions for it. Also, Undying isn't really that great of a game. The modeling in it is . . . bleh. I got it yesterday, and it was cool for a little while, but quite boring soon thereafter. BTW - I'm working on a mod for H&D2, I know the H&D2 mod tools ain't been released....all my mod does is give items/weapons/uniforms their real names. For example, in H&D2 they had "Sten Gun" for the Sten Gun Mk2, so I changed it to Sten Gun Mk2. I can have the beta of the mod ready tonight if anyone wants it. I will get expansions for COD and H & D 2, GR 2 and maybe this new Close Combat USMC One ###### about Illusion Software is the lack of good modding tools for H & D 2. firefly2442 0 Posted June 26, 2004 Share Posted June 26, 2004 Buying pre-played games can save you a little money if you are willing to go without a manual possibly or risk having it be scratched. Although most reputable stores should check the games before they sell em. I got Freelancer used and it was a couple dollars cheaper and was in mint condition (minus the manual though).
