deadly_sniper22 0
I found this on msn.ca, my homepage and thought some of you might find it interesting that more women play on-line then men. I know there are quite a few female members here and i know many play online, but then thought there was more of them then teens and older men. To moderators: this may be the wrong forum, it could go in GOT but i thought it was related to PC games, so sorry if it was my mistake.
budgie 1
I'd be willing to believe that - though not in teh way you think. Women are more social creatures and are hugely active in MMORPGs like Everquest. They probably also like to tussle it up a bit in the SIMS online and maybe even Neverwinter Nights. These games require hours and hours of play - whole evenings and weekends. So they probably spend more hours online than guys. By contrast guys are involved with shooters but from what I've seen on AA servers, most people put in about 2 hours and call it quits. Weekends are quieter because we're all out on the ale with our mates or chasing girls or even...yes, I know it's hard to believe...on dates. With women! So while there must surely be more male online gamers than female, we probably log a lot less time. We get tired of fragging, but let's face it - chicks will never get tired of yapping away in some virtual beauty parlor (sorry Zjj, couldn't resist).

Ruin 17
I think it depends on the genre. I don't buy it one minute for FPS or anything that involves death/killing. Men are DEFINATLEY the primary consumer there. However, Magnum hit the nail on the head. Games like The Sims are definatley female dominated. I know of more girls that play The Sims than guys. Heck, I know an all girl punk band locally that play it (for hours) it's kinda funny. Also, the article doesn't say much about purchased online games. I garantee you women will spend more time playing games similar to Tetris online than men will (we prefer to shoot things). Wait, here, I found it: "The women surveyed tended to play mainly word and puzzle games..." Which are free and can be found at hundereds of sites online. Our games require cash and good machines to play. A good quote: Graner Ray says this doesn’t mean that women don’t like competition. She says they just compete in a different way than men. Women, she explains, prefer games where they, as players, don’t have to do anything that directly prevents other competitors from performing their gaming tasks. WytchDokta 6
I know of some women who play SoF2...now, you woulda thought that they would have been sickened by the gore in SoF2 (like some men were). It's wierd, people say they've suffered nightmares after playing SoF2. Not me. I play it for hours on end too. Sometimes I play it in a darkened room with all the lights out....no matter how hard i try, I can't get myself to suffer from nightmares after playing SoF2.
Sup 0
How would one get nightmares from SOF2? I understand disgust, but nightmares?
WytchDokta 6
I'm only writing what some people have said. Some people said they had nightmares after playing SoF2 so I wrote that. Some people even showed the gore in SoF2 to their 11 brother or whatever Some people as young as 13 are playing SoF2, yet the game is rated 18. Gotta love those dual desert eagles in the Gold Edition . I blew an enemys' arm clean off with one of the desert eagles....
WytchDokta 6
Also, some one over at the PainKiller forums said they suffered from a nightmare after playing PainKiller for hours on end.... edit: minor grammatical mistake (aka 'a word missing') Edited June 22, 2004 by [Wx] .:Nightmare:. ninjas_eat_pirates 0
In my experience, girls love fighting games. Haha, I guess there's something appealing about kicking a guy's ass. Now that I think about it sometimes my friends get a little too into it...
Dick Splash 23
Women play online more then men? You know.......I used to play with women more than I played online with men Anyway, my other half liked playing MediEval on the PSOne. She's not into strategy or involved games [which is why I get to play FSW in peace at the mo' ]. I think she'll like Prince of Persia and especially this fantastic looking new one that's in development, and I think she'll be into LoTR Return of the King coz she liked the films and it features actors voices in it. Oddly enough, she didn't like the Sims! I dunno.....that's women for ya......hopeless in goals and they haven't got a steady enough hand to assemble the fuselage of a 1/48th scale Airfix Stuka Bomber DS
