nVidia 56.64 drivers broke my rig!!

Recommended Posts

I found out why C&C Generals - Zero Hour would load, but then crash just before the menu....because of the nVidia 56.64 drivers!!

To understand clearly I'm a have to take you back a few days.....

I had downloaded the Zero Hour v1.02 patch, the Vice City patch (only for those who experience corruption of some graphics in the game - I had the graphics corruption. Difficult to explain what the "corruption" is clearly....) and the nVidia 56.64 display drivers.

After installing all three, I fired up Zero hour to see if my Zero Hour mod was working ok. It goes dead just before the menu screen. So I fire up Vice city. Does exactly the game. So I delete the Vice City patch. Still don't work. Still crashes just before the menu screen. Same with Zero Hour.

There isn't any way to unistall the Zero Hour patch. So i left it be. I fire up Raven Shield - drops dead just before the menu screen. So I try H&D2 - also crashes just before the menu screen. So, now assuming it's the ZH v1.02 patch I remove ZH. Still no luck.

Something ain't right here. They were all working before I installed the nVidia drivers (56.64)

So this morning I unistalled the 56.64 drivers and re-installed the 53. something drivers. Now it all works fine and I have 2 games to reinstall all thanks to nVidia's latest display drivers!!

The 56.64s arent even WHQL certafied. I tend to stick to the certified drivers and generally have no problems.
