tmichc 6
Hi all. I've been making custom characters again , and have encountered this strange phenomena. Any idea what's causing it? The head and the forearms are linked to the same texture (it's a simple hack and slash of an existing IT character in Max), yet the head does not display the texture correctly. It's very annoying,v and has happened to a couple of my models. Other models are using some strange Desert Seige OPFOR face as their head skin, even though I'm using the various face textures from MP2 (Island Thunder) in the actor files. Very strange phenomena. I'm open to suggestions as to how to deal with it. Many thanks, Tim
XmanL 0
Go into chr file and see if the "head" got the body texture... That fixed my probs... - XmanL
tmichc 6
That's what I thought. But, before I attached the head and arms to the body I checked this. The parts were attached to the main body in Max, and still it rendered correctly (arms and head both had the head.rsb texture). So, I attached the bones, exported the model (after hours of playing around with lost vertices) and loaded up GR. Still had the same problem. So, I loaded up Mike Schell's Skinner 1.1 and had a look at the chr. Sure enough, 2 Material IDs, one for the body skin, one for the head. So, for a laugh , I swapped them over. Saved it and reloaded the game. The head and arms looked great, but the body had a distorted head.rsb texture applied to it. So, I suppose the main question I'm asking is; do you guys attach the head/arms to the main body, or just group them, as you do with weapons? I have been following Ruin/Piggyson's tutorials, and they use the single mesh. I have followed the instructions to the letter, and everything appears to export correctly. It just goes to pot when I enter the game. On a side note, does anyone know why head.rsb is overriding the face textures I have applied to my characters in the atr file? This never used to happen to me, I wonder what's gone wrong now.... Tim

tmichc 6
And he's right you know. Max does have ways of doing anything. Yay Chems!!! Thanks to Chems and an hour on Messenger, everything's sorted. Once he explained it to me, I felt so stupid. Anyway, thanks again mate. Tim
