Bikecop272 0
Depends because I have enough money for the core and 3 of the addon packs. I would get both. Because some of the addons in OFP can be used in VBS1. I have both VBS1 and OFPR. I am proud to say I am now a OFP/VBS1 fan! Although there are no campaigns in VBS1 Lets start killing EDIT:Holy crap those soldiers weapons are made by a earl!! Because we got those guns in an unofficial addon in OFP!!! Earls guns on VBS1 are top notch and much higher poly counts... Some OFP mods work in VBS1- you have to repack some though.. BAS Helo's insert as empty Units an also KM Armoured Vehicles go stright in need resfix.pbo Snypir made..though. VBS1 add ons are high quality esp ADF/ US SF and Marines. More add ons on the way.... Namely Brit pack, ADF 2 Pack.. and a few others
Jack57 0
Finally finished Dek's new mission in SP - 56 minutes and never a dull moment This really is an excellent mission. It's very satisfying to beat, with great replay value. Excellent work mate -

The soldiers that ship with VBS1 are wearing Interceptor, though. It's not a big deal to me; the Marine pack isn't available in the US, so it won't matter to Americans. Sup 0
USMC pack isn't available in the US? Who are they trying to sell it to, then?
Parabellum 12
USMC pack isn't available in the US? Who are they trying to sell it to, then? Everyone else. I personally don't use the USMC pack that much, just the HMMWV w/50-cal MG. I think the ADF pack is the best-done addon for VBS1, hands down.

dekela 0
jack, glad you liked it mate, and glad you finished it. after all the trouble we've had on it in mp i thought it might have been too hard. slink, there where three charges under the back of the ural that flipped it completely back on its wheels, but only travelled about 10-20m osokdfgr, i have OFP goty and vbs1, and my opinion is that if you can afford it, go with vbs1. the community is growing and many users are making addons and missions and such. a little more time and it will really have taken off. plus bia are constanly working on new addons themselves cheers...... longshankslives 0
Hi ! I am a newbie to this forum but not to tactical games I just decided it was time I started to try meet others who love FPS tactical war games as much as I do. Most people I know (women in particular) DO NOT RELATE I have frequented this board many times and I can see that some of the people here understand modding and playing games such as operation flashpoint, ghost recon and VBS1, to name a few, to a degree that far surpasses what I know. So, I am here to learn and have fun and I enjoy these games. While I can beat the AI in OPF and Ghost I know that playing people is where you really have to go if you want to be good. I am just starting to learn about editing in OPF I am over 30 so I have a job and a life. . but I have not seen any trolls or flamers here so I am encouraged that I will learn something. I also want to say Gday to the Aussies here. I am probably the only American here who has lived Down Under as well. I am most interested in Operation Flashpoint and as I get where I have editing down decent I am thinking about upgrading to VBS1 and possibly hosting or joining some games. I think that ( and I am sure yall would agree that the Dooms, Unreals, Raven Shields do not hold a candle to OPF or GR since the latter involve strategy and being cunning Anyway ,here are my questions 1. Do I need to be able to mod in Operation Flashpoint to MOD is VBS1? 2. Is Modding in GR similar in any way to Operation Flashpoint 3. How many missions come with VSB1 and is the AI harder to beat then OPF? thanks, Longshankslives!
Parabellum 12
1. Do I need to be able to mod in Operation Flashpoint to MOD is VBS1? You don't need to be able to mod OFP to mod for VBS1. The modding process is basically the same for both games. If you're coming into VBS1 fresh, with no OFP modding experience, you may need some extra time to learn things, but it's not hard. 2. Is Modding in GR similar in any way to Operation Flashpoint In my opinion, no. Modding OFP is a more complicated process, but, in my opinion, it's much easier than modding for GR. You don't need any 3rd party modelling software, no plugins for 3ds Max, and there aren't dozens of configuration files to create. 3. How many missions come with VSB1 and is the AI harder to beat then OPF? IIRC, there are about a dozen pre-made missions for VBS1. There are quite a few available for download as well. As far as I can tell, the AI is a little smarter than in OFP, but not impossible to beat. I've noticed alot more flanking maneuvers done by the AI in VBS1.
longshankslives 0
Parabellum, I appreciate the info. Where do you download additional missions for VSB1? I am thinking about buying the core set and a few addons. I like playing missions that come with it but I can't imagine getting more mission downloads from the VSB1 convalecent without coughing up a lot more money than I have Maybe you can show us a much less expensive way also what are the essential missions animal pack is not important to me
AUS_Viper 0
Parabellum, I appreciate the info. Where do you download additional missions for VSB1? I am thinking about buying the core set and a few addons. Theres a few guys that are scripting missions and are available for download (under resources) at http://vbsresources.com/ also what are the essential missions animal pack is not important to me Animal pack maybe if you want to play many of the user made missions. Only speaking for myself, but 2 out of my 4 missions have animals in them. Gotta love those camels....well Jack does anyway
