The AI has evolved into a crafty enemy, worthy of respect. Multiplayer is truly a joy. Best money I've ever spent. Don't buy Half-Life. Pave Low Posted February 17, 2003 Share Posted February 17, 2003 hehe, nice one RatPatrol LMAO I’ve found GR to be one of the BEST games I’ve ever bought. and with all the thousands of free mods available plus the fun of online MP this game isn’t going to get boring anytime soon, in fact I think only the release of GR2 will stop most people playing it. It just amazed me that someone would come to this forum, to try and convince us that we just don't see the light......... and we should all run out to buy Half-Life, drop GR, and thank him for saving us from ourselves. Jex Posted February 17, 2003 Share Posted February 17, 2003 Personally I find the game buggy (for SP and a little for MP) and it seems ubi just rushed it to get it out on the shelves. My thoughts on this I've already discussed in another topic. What makes this a great game for me though is the third party kit that comes with it. I only bought the game a little under 2 weeks ago and the first thing I did was play all the missions SP. When I started to check out the forums and other dedicated sites I was gobsmacked by all the mods that were out there. It was actually a little off-putting though now I believe I've got it pretty much sussed. So Big thanks to all you mod guys, forum runners and server runners (esp GR.net) for making this game what it is today. Hey Ratty? Have you played on GR.net's server? San Posted February 17, 2003 Share Posted February 17, 2003 GR is the best (that I know of ) Before GR I wasn't interested in shooting-games. But now I know GR, I love it. It's not the shooting I enjoy most, but the beautiful enviroment. Also I love team-play, and a tactical approach. The possiblity to make your own map/character/mission makes GR immortal. GR is about skill and tactics unlike the run around like headless chickens and spray and pray. I've been in plenty a good firefight on SP on GR ( not recently cos of the AI) GR is the best!!!! and i'm still playing it since it first came out and that's saying something seeing as played mohaa+spearhead(still do) and all the other crap that's out and still come back to my baby (could do with another expansion pack or GR2 at the moment though) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its the only game that has withstanded the stay on my hd for the past month and half or so and it continues to please me. No other game compares, HL is nothing compared to this game. I liked RTS, Flight Sims, RPG, and even third person games (like Tomb Raider) but the FPS ... well I just didn't see the fun in Heretic, Quake, Doom, etc. Thanks for a terrific game, RSE. Having said that, 2 Game of The Year awards, superb longevity thanks to amazing solo modded campaigns, remarkable weapon mods, amazing online community, award winning sound, realism graphics, a game that really does reward tactics, competitive play available for coop or adversarial fans, great expansion packs..... gotta love it. Havok Posted February 19, 2003 Share Posted February 19, 2003 (edited) like a couple others said i never touched a 'shooter' till i saw gr played at a buddy's house and then next day...well i just had to run out and get the game...awesome were my first games solo then went online in some crazy frag war they called siege and hid under a rock scared s******s...seriously the realism blew me away (literally )...then i went and got r.s and hooked on that too...and everytime a mission pack for gr would come out i bought it first day...oh god i need help and then i found GR.NET and found out i was not the only one suffering from this....and then all the mods from this lovely site ..what more could anyone ask for (other than for true virtual reality to exist like lawnmower man or tron so ya insert into the mainframe and play Ghost Recon) ? all my other games are being neglected and deprived of attention...oh well I have to go now...the ghosts are calling Edited February 19, 2003 by =UAL=Havok Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They have created games that appeal to people for their realism (though tempered for gameplay reasons) and it has been an award winning formula. Rocky stated "Tom Clancy" and I like him haven't ventured very far from games with his name on them. Yes that is part of the reason behind the successs RSE has had. With the TC name in front of a game name, there has to be certain things a game has to have. GR has followed the winning ways.
