CyanideCocktail
I saw, some time ago a mod so you can host a game and the particapants may only select sniper kits. I can't seem to find it now. Can someone point me in the direction of that mod? Thanks in Advance for any help. CyanideCocktail
Ruin
I don't think it's a mod. You can do that if you host with GR/DS/IT
Zantar45
Yeah you can host a game that is set or said to be Sniper only, but the rooms are harder to find then a gamer without a mouse in hand. If your talking about sniper mods, get sniper armoury, it contains alot of new kits and weapons for all you hunting needs.
Cobblers
That's what I thought Ruin, although I could be wrong. Must admit I never snipe, I am crap at it. How people can shoot something that is moving that quick is beyond me. I much prefer using my SA80. Anyway, the clan I'm in had a few games where no one was allowed to take anything but a sniper rifle as their primary weapon. And I must admit that I was surprised at just how good some of these rifles are. Good practise too.
Zantar45
As with any other postion, Sniper is a difficult role to get used to. I like to think of the sniper this way, ''If their out of reach you CAN reach them, if their to close to zoom, assume the postion, cause your gonna get it big time. '' LOL
the.ronin
sniping is gret is you dont get flanked. moving targets just need a little more lead. i think that 9mm secondary is highly underestimated too. maybe a 45 might be better or something with a little more stopping power. Zantar45
Yeah I dont understand one thing. The game is set in the future. But alot of the weapons ( AK47, AN94,M16,etc) are old.Im not saying anything bad about them,in fact I love using the AK47 (AK47 all the way baby!) Heres the thing, alot of real special forces members use 1911's/Colt .45s,yet UBI forgot to put them in 3 times! I wonder how much the snipers would benifet if they had sensors? (its a no brainer i know) Infact real snipers carry sometimes more than weapon, sometimes a M4 or MP5 or sometimes shotguns(very rare). LOL oh well the game is still very true accurate to a ''T''
the.ronin
Heres the thing, alot of real special forces members use 1911's/Colt .45s,yet UBI forgot to put them in 3 times! yeah man i always thought when they made the 9mm berette(?) standard issue, people rejected it cos it had no stopping power so they went back to the colt. NightCrawler
If you check the news page on it you will find some brand new sniper missions. edit: I'm going to go test this right now with the Sniper Armoury, I'll let you know what I think. Tater
That's cool crawler, I'm curious. Also, is that mod server-side only?
Zantar45
Yes,back in the 80's,the various branches of te military made the Beretta M92FS standard issue. The reasoning was that after all the tests that the branches had, the M92fs won the rights of being a standard issue sidearm. Alot of Special forces members didnt like this because the 9mm round wasnt as powerful or had enough man stopping power as a .45 has. The varous branches un-retired the M1911/Colt.45 . Now the choice of sidearm is mostly done on preference. One question about it was whats better more stopping power, but fewer rounds? or More rounds but more shots? NightCrawler
Well, let me say this about the new mod "hard"! Possibly my new training maps, these guys are a sneaky lot, half the time I never saw or heard a thing. Mind you I never made it off the first map. In the read me he never says if these are server side or not, but since they install to the mp2 miss folder they probably are. Also mentioned in the readme is the fact that he has never beaten any of these missions in a single player game, only in multiplayer with voice ops. Here is some hightlights from the readme: And how difficult ARE these maps? To give you an idea, I've never successfully completed one with or without AI teammates - except in multiplayer. Only in multiplayer with human assistance (and voice chat programs activated) did we succeed. Expect to complete each mission in no less than an hour (an hour and a half perhaps for the larger ones such as Mountain and Caves). If you prefer the "Run and Gun" approach, expect to be dropped quickly and without mercy. Your chances of survival improve dramatically if you drop prone at game start and work out a strategic plan of action. Use your optics to their fullest and check your satellite link frequently. What may be invisible to you in-game may be revealed in full by your digital link-up. crashing with the game in multiplayer is a definite possibility if you have either: 1) too many players, 2) players with ridiculously high pings, 3) high ping players plus explosives enabled. To best counter this, testers and I have found that four to five players MAX with good pings and explosives disabled runs the game stable. With fewer players and good pings, explosives can be re-enabled. Two or three high ping players equipped with high ROF support weapons will also give the game hiccups. These restrictions are due to the sheer amount of tangoes you are engaging (forty-eight per map).
