Well, those arent AT4s in any case, looks more like the M3 Carl Gustav MAAWS, which would suit the ghost better. (the ghost sure does use a lot of swedish weps ;) )

But it would be fun to use the SMAW tho, bunker busting :D

Or maybe the javelin for long range tank targets.

Just wanted to update this thread with some more info I got after attending the third day of E3. You may have heard of some but I'll try to add some more detail to them.

  • You can now pick up OPFOR (opposing forces) weapons by depressing the analog direction stick when near a dropped weapon.
  • You'll play the entire campaign as just one character. You will not be able to switch to say Nick Salvatore the gunner, but you will be able to change your weapon loadout to use different weapons.
  • M4 and M16 will return as selectable weapons. They be modeled with ACOG, M68 Aimpoints, and other attachments. You will NOT be able to customize the attachemts.
  • The Lead Designer added that he'll likely add the M14 to the arsenal as a marksman weapon!
  • The M249 SAW is now replaced by the Mk46 (lighter and no 30 round mag well)
  • Allied soldiers will include troops from France, Germany, and Australia.
  • Metal surfaces like containers will feature reflective specular surfaces.

is that it?

Is the pc version just a bloomin after thought? *throws chair across room*

Now to the bad news:

Looks like the PC will indeed take a back seat to the XBox. There is no dedicated PC team this time around. The Xbox team will develop for both platforms. To this date there doesn't seem to be much decided yet as to the direction of the PC version!

The consistent response was that there is no concrete direction yet for the PC version. All indications point to a similar experience to the Xbox albeit with some concessions for the fans of the original (ie the hard-core simulation types).

PS: I'll edit my earlier post a littel later with some more details of the Characters and there loadouts for anyone whose interested (ie geardos). CORRECTION I'll make a NEW post so its not so confusing what's new and whats not.

:wall: loyal PC players haven't been waiting for 2 years for an X-BOX port.

Yes i do agree it does suck!

But becuase Bill Cates Made a new rule too all well must company's maken a game on he's system! It's called XNA. He's main goal is too make the Consel and PC game's exacly the same! So than PC & consel well be online together!

This could be why it's same team maken both PC & Consel. Also why they maken Consel first, too know how too make the PC version! Sad But could be very true!

:wall: The more I read the worse it get's. :wall: Their ruining any possibility of a great follow up to the greatest game ever. Guess I need to hit the lottery and hire all the great modders we have here and create a GR2 that would be worth playing.

My thoughts exactly.

So wait....We have a game that peeps have waited for for more than 3 years...Where you CANT change character...The sniper specialist is a girl (girls, in my opinion...DO NOT belong in a special forces unit)...and the games going to be based around the Xbox instead of PC. This is one game I wont be wasting my money on. The UBI soft team cant take GR2 and shove it some place, because this game sounds like it wont even be half as good as the first. :(

Does anyone else want to pull a Tony Montana at UBI HQ?

This is too dissappointing.

I got no problem with games being similar but why not make the X-box version like the PC version. Not the other way around. Looks like GR2 will be just another Delta Force crappy shooter. No need to waste your money here. I will definately wait for the price to drop before I even think about buying the game. I suggest others do the same. No need to give them encouragement to rip us off anymore than they already have.

After watching the 11 minute E3 demo video and coming here I'm feeling a grim satisfaction to read that most of you felt the same way I did after watching it.

During the video the only thing that kept going through my head again and again was: this is recon? What the hell is recon about this?

In GR1 you spend time to figure out where your enemy was, how many of them you have to deal with, and then, ultimately, you'd take them out before they even notice you're there.

GR2 on the other hand suggests that you rush in and shoot at whatever shoots at you.

"Take out those machine gun nests". Yessir.

"We can take down the chopper with the AAA gun". Aha. <_<

First of all, thanks for the info. Maybe it had to be pointed out, since that chopper would have made me want to keep my head low and stay out of sight, and not go Rambo with a stationary machine gun. So then the chopper goes down gracefully like a banged tin can. But seriously, what else do I have to expect to be hearing, "Throw a grenade into the building to eliminate the resistance," or better yet: "Take out the enemy up ahead by shooting your gun"? "Hide in the bushes so they can't see you"?

If it turns out that some scripted voice gives me a step by step guide on what I have to do "Blow up the tower.. take out the snipers", wow. Maybe RSE/UBI thinks the console gamers need advice during gameplay, but I'd feel like they're trying to pull my leg. I don't want the computer telling me how to take out the bad guys, I want to figure it out myself and do it my way, thank you.

The medic scene was just silly. I'm not opposed to medics if their role is a reasonable one, mind you. Imagine a soldier getting shot in the leg and dropping to the ground. With the proper medical treatment by one of his teammates his leg could be restored to the point where he can walk again, though with a limp. If the use of medics worked that way in the game, it would be great. But completely healing him? That's the final step to arcade mode.

Speaking of, and mentioned in numerous posts before this one, that's what the game looks like: an arcade version of Raven Shield. The demo mission looked more like an infantry rush than a recon mission.

I can understand when people say that this was just a demo run, thus they tried to pack as much action into those 11 minutes as possible. But that attitude makes it sound like they'd be afraid that the REAL thing wouldn't sell. And if they're afraid that the real thing won't sell, they'll alter it so it WILL sell. One look at what sells on today's market, and voila! GR2 is going arcade.

And GR2 aiming primarily at consoles pretty much looks like they're adjusting to the market.

Oh, about the god mode and the AI.. playing god mode doesn't effect the way the AI of your teammates behaves, or does it? From what I could tell, the player's teammates were just running around the area like a bunch of firstgraders during recess. You can actually count the situations where they should have died (running past and into the enemy several times) - in the end you're probably more busy with keeping your AI teammates alive than anything else. But then again there's still lots of time for the AI to undergo some improvements before the game hits the stores.

And yea, somebody already pointed out how unrealistic the jet situation was - why were they still on the ground? What were they waiting for? Apparently their only purpose was to wait there for the player to blow them up.. which is kinda lame, because it doesn't make any sense. :wall:

I'm fed up with this. Most games just turn out to be a disappointment nowadays.

I just hope one of the GR2 developers visits this site and reads the forums every now and then, because the feedback we're giving them so far is something they shouldn't ignore.

My response would be to not wait until the developers visit a forum and say "Hey guys! How about that great E3 demo we put up? Wasn't it just swell?" but to be proactive. I'll admit that I'm quite disturbed by what I saw as well and that was the reason that I wrote a letter to RSE. If you're really serious about wanting to affect some kind of change, then do the same - it doesn't take all that long and you actually feel a bit better for it!

SFLUFAN,

With all due respect toward You and your good intension I will now repeat myself and say next.

UBI (that include Red Storm as well), showed many times how much they care about our opinion. They kept us for years without saying anything about GR and its destiny.

For years players have been asking, crying and suggesting but nobody from UBI did listen and even less, took care about it.

So WHY are You thinking that your or mine e-mail will change anything now when they already decided almost everything about GR2?

WHY should We help them when they don't want to help (read: "care"), about loyal fans?

Let me say: I DON"T CARE!

If they don't like to show a little bit of understandings for us WHY We should take care and help them to sell their game and earn money after such an attitude they showed toward us? WHY?

However, I still have nerves to wait for final demo version and check it out.

Let God make me wrong but in that case it will really be a miracle after all that I have heard/seen.....

Patriot

P.S.

This is just my opinion and I respect anyone who think different as long as it is reasonable.

You raise some very valid points and you're quite correct.

The major difference with this situation as opposed to the past involves money - UBI and RSE have already invested money in the product and are naturally expecting a certain return on their investment in order to make the product profitable. This is especially so as the "final" product is relatively close to completion.

Simply put, if UBI/RSE are made to realize that a significant portion of the Ghost Recon purchasing fan base are disgruntled with what they've seen of the product and thus, may not even consider buying the product, then they very well may have to rethink their strategy in order to recoup their investment. No corporation likes to put out a product that does not clear their internal rate of return.

If you don't wish to inform them of your displeasure, that's quite alright. But I'm merely suggesting a course of action for those of us who would like to try to push the agenda a bit.

yes! SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!! :support:

Why are we an afterthought? Because they're bound to make much more money for a run-n-gun XBoX shooter...sure the PC crowd is substantial but not to the point that the console is. We have given them years of loyalty and modding dedication and free marketing!! We kept their game alive and hoped and begged for a worthy sequel...and instead we get a CoD/SOCOM mesh that just :wall: I know, I know, we haven't seen the final version, this is only 70%, they've always given us what we wanted, blah blah, but what indication do we have now that among the 70% there is anything that you find is an improvement?!? Can anyone name one category where the game excells exceptionally? What kind of loyal fan base to they intend to have when it's a rehash of every shooter already flooding the market? Yes Matt...yes Stalker Zero...nobody messes with Tony Montana.. :o=

Except that the M136/AT4 LAW is precisely what the M72 LAW has been replaced by IRL.

Only in regular units. U.S. SF & SEALs use both the M72 and AT-4.

(the ghost sure does use a lot of swedish weps  ;) )

You'd be suprised.

 I'm still p#$@%#$. How could RSE stoop so low as to take GR2 and turn it into a clone of those other arcade kid clan blast fests. It's not like they didn't make plenty of money on the original GR and were forced to change the gameplay of GR to stay in business. SEND IN THE GHOSTS. WHO EVER IS RESPONSIBLE AT UBI & RSE FOR THIS DECISION NEEDS TAKEN OUT. :o=

Well, I will surly not be buying GR2 now (it is obviously going the route of RVS - even worse...which I can't believe)....

UBI is a terrible company in terms of supporting those who helped build up R6 & GR......However, they are just looking at the short-term bottom line...(mass production).....while it may work in the short term.....it won't in the long run...

In the freemarket this just presents a great opportunity for another Red Storm Entertainment type company to come along - build off of what R6 and GR already were.....Create a whole new market -

GR2 will be a joke compared to GR - this is obvious. No two ways about it -
