WytchDokta 6
I so want this game right now, but I gotta wait til I can get down the stores before I can get it. So what's so awesome then? See for yourself: "The average level is 350,000 polygons, monsters are around 3000-4000 polygons, while boss monsters are 8000+ polygons. The textures are also very high-res: average is 1024x1024, bosses are 2x2048x2048. Enemies also have bump-mapping and lighting models have specular lighting." Hehehehe I been checking out the PainKiller website.... Check it out: PainKiller I gotsta go buy it now.... **Decides to order it off the internet**
WytchDokta 6
Just found this: PainKiller IS better than FarCry. Enough said. See for yourself: here
Jack57 0
Well it's on a Painkiller website - come on! Get real If I put up a poll like that here on this site asking which is better GR or Far Cry, what do you think the result will be ? So its got lots of polygons What about all the other factors that go to make a great game? It's horses for courses mate Next time you're in a church on a Sunday, take a poll on how they rate atheism Don't take me too seriously - just having a bit of fun, Jack ps: this is the 3rd post on that poll "Why have you made this poll? You CANNOT compare the 2 games at all man. Seriously, there's no comparison at all."
cajun47 0
the 2 painkiller demos i played where quite fun. good almost mindless killing spree. great graphics and physics. but im buying far cry before i buy painkiller.

migryder 13
I got Painkiller and for the most part it is fun to play. I never played games with more enemies than you can shake a painkiller at! That is so arcade though, oh well. My card is not fully compatible so that does u know what, they managed to vary the combat requirements which is nice compared to DOOM3 which relies more on CQB and I like the way they set parameters for winning the Black Tarot Cards, I'm in Town level and have to use stakes only to win the card, I messed up and shot up my stakes first time through, near the end, got peeved and set all weps and ammo then let em have it with a minigun(excuse me they call em chainguns in the PK and id world) so now I gotta go back and figure where I messed up and keep up enough stakes to pull it off right. Then its back through the map hopping and searching for secrets and artifacts. The maps ase pretty cool but I hated Snowy Bridge, great map, but I hated the sliding around on the one part with all of hell lose and not sliding much at all. Well, I left off DOOM3 in Delta Labs 2A and have yet to return to Mars, but I also gotta get back to Regulator and finish off those mercs so I can get into a Trigen crip.... I blew their(mercs) stupid Ospreys up prior to going into the Regulator, God I love FC. mig Edited September 7, 2004 by migryder
Snake 0
this wasn that impressive i mean just a DOOM 2 with improved graphics and a few odds and ends
migryder 13
as I moved down one street in Town level I swear I could hear George C. Scott as Patton talking to his aid and saying "....in the end it was the carts......they....pushing the carts....". mig
Daywanderer 0
Got it a couple of days ago and I'm having lots of fun with it. After all the Far Cry and Hidden & Dangerous 2 I've played lately (Doom 3 is almost too scary for me, yet only fun in the middle of the night with the lights out, go figure..), it was refreshing to jump into a game which pulls off old-school arcade action so perfectly. I still rate Far Cry as the better of the two, but Painkiller is easily one of the most entertaining games I've played all year. Tip: Open the console and enter 'pkkeepbodies' to keep the bodies from disappearing. After a big fight, the entire area will be littered with blood, corpses and bodyparts. Fun! Just make sure your rig's got some power under the hood - after a huge five-minute slaughter, mine flatlined into a reboot.
WytchDokta 6
New PK expansion pack on the way..... and so what if it's so arcade, CoD is so arcade, but PK is way better than CoD.
migryder 13
.:Nightmare:.,Sep 10 2004, 14:26 ] New PK expansion pack on the way..... and so what if it's so arcade, CoD is so arcade, but PK is way better than CoD. I like em both(PK N CoD). The only time I can rember CoD approaching the numbers of enemies coming at once the way PK does was Pavlov's House and that is pure nuts on Veteran level or whichever one was elite. I did not like the ride alongs in CoD at all and I was looking for some change to put in the slot at the airfield, but I played that game over n over, and yes it too is so arcade. I'll probably by the CoD exp before PK s so I'll just have to enjoy the original one awhile.
