Biro
Well, it shouldn't be to hard to fix up some weapons...if we keep it pretty small and only do special forces I guess we can get hold in someone pretty easy...could be nice to meet and talk over it. Do you guys have microphones and teamspeak?
Loke
Sure I have TS and mic, but like I've said I know nothing about modding. What I will do is to hear with team if there are anyone interested.
Biro
Ok, but then it's maybe time to start up with some modding Loke? Hehe, well, if we could get toghter a day, we could share some ideas and find out what to do if you guys are intrested.
Loke
haha Alpha! I'd want to try modding, but I have literally NO time these days. Exams and a job. Still, tempting. Sleep is for cowards. Can you do weapons mate? Pingvinx seems to have the skins all figured out...we're just talking a small gun/skin mod here, right? As for meeting up, earliest possible is this coming Sunday
Biro
Yea, I have a lot to do myself right now, with Stealth Recon going on, Alpha Mod in progress and exams myself aswell. We can get toghter and talk, and see what we can figure out of. I can offcourse make some weapon models and you can for example set up their statistics and get them to work properly ingame with that. Don't think I have time to do this right now, but in June I have much more freetime and will model alot. To make a decent mod I do feel there should be some new missions, and a map or two also, but specially mapmaking is EXTREME timeconsuming. Let's see what we can do... GRIN_Wolfsong
My 2ndLt always claimed that the Swedes have somethnig called "vaktjagare" and was so bitter about it cos in norway we're only called "vaktsoldater" no matter what training. Wonder if this rings any bells for Wolfsong, seeing as he is airforce... In the air force we have two types of guards. The common security force is Air Force Counter SOF (Närskydd) which are the same as the Army Counter SOF (Militärpolisen) and the Amphibious Counter SOF (BasSäk). They where recently put together to form a common conuter SOF organisation for the entire armed forces and as all such units in the world they are classed as special forces themselves. Then there are the pure Air Base Rangers (FlygBasJägare) who are basically the same as AF CSOF but with harder requirements & training, better equipment and bigger areas of operation. Loke
Haha, no wonder the man was bitter! See, we tend to think of rangers (jeger) as someone who has to carry a great big backpack over miles and miles and miles and with specialist competence...not including base defence specialists. The term "jeger" carries great respect and so I think the man was somewhat jealous of his Swedish counterparts lol. We do not as of yet have a common guards unit for the entire armed forces either. Stewy
I think a Norwegian Mod would be cool - if time's short, why not just make it a skins/weaps pack? I have NO modding skills...but I'd certainly DL it
richmondskin
just wondering about the progress of this mod. cheers and beers lads!
callmehobbes
I'd love a Norwegian mod. In fact any Scandanavian mod is more than welcome. As well as the stunning Wolfsong mod there was also a Swedish marines mod by...arghh can't remember his name but it was a little gem with a couple of really nice missions...Christian something I think his name was. It's well worth checking out. There should be plenty of reference material on the Norwegians as they seem to have rather busy in recent years esp. in Afghanistan. The best photo I've seen was of two operators in a klepper canoe on exercise in Norway. Good luck with the modding-I'm tempted to have another go at it. (I seem to spend all my time begging and hinting hoping that others will do the work for me!) Cheers Callmehobbes
richmondskin
you're thinking of Chris Anderson's Swedish Marines mod. Erm shkrg bedr amlit ums skrk bork bork!!!
callmehobbes
That's the one. It was my first ever download and so has a special place in my heart along with the Swiss Special forces mod-fantastic skins on that one, the camo works especially well on Neutron's dam and the Ossetian map from Battleborne. One touch I particularly liked was giving snipers demo kits. Has anyone else done that? I'd like to see a whole team in ghillie suits, silenced weapons and moving with total stealth, placing charges on the targets and then melting away into the background. Or possibly even targeting with a laser designator-has that/can that be done? Cheers Callmehobbes

callmehobbes
On Battleborne I used a demo equipped sniper team for destroying the tower but still relied the rest of the squad for clearing the villa at the top of the hill. That was the hardest part of the mission. It's a shame the specialists weren't up to the same standard as the regular troops as then it would probably still be my No. 1 skin mod.(I hope that doesn't sound too critical, it's just my prefernces.) richmondskin
ya know, i went digging for the SSF mod i have saved on a CD. i'm gonna try that Ossetian woodland mission again and see if still gots my skills.
callmehobbes
I think I'll have a go at that again myself if I can only remember where I put the ssf mod! If not it's back to good old Grom. When I do find SSF and get reaquainted with it I'll put in a review, same with Chris Andersons Swedish Marines. For now I'd better trying to sort out (ie. find) my older mods. Cheers Callmehobbes. callmehobbes
Really? It's a classic skin mod by Argyll (AKA Callum Keen, one of the best skinners I've come across but who has sadly retired from GR.) His website is now defunct but I'm sure you can still D/L from @war. The skins are spot on and come in the three basic flavours, woodland, desert and jungle. The only glitch is that the desert skins revert to original GR skins when viewed from certain angles but that's a price I'm willing to pay. If you haven't got it GET IT! callmehobbes
Back to the main thread of the topic-norwegian skins, I have Frostbite (the mod, not the condition) and love the Norwegian characters. Is there anyone out there who could use the characters (with permssion) and create a soley Norwegian skin/weapons mod? I've tried again to break into modding but cannot get my head around any of it. Or is it possible to use Sabre Teams and set it to an all Norwegian mod? (I've asked this on a different thread but recieved no reply.) As an additional question is there a GR mod index of different nationality mods? If not I'd be happy to start one if people were interested. Cheers Callmehobbes
chiel_mic
The Frostbite team will not allow you to take the norwegian characters from the mod. They decided they would not allow this beauty to be ripped apart, and who can blame 'em!! You could however make a mod which utilizes Frostbite, but change what actors you can control. Giampi
Yesterday I started to make a small mod regarding Norwegian Forces using Frostbite as requirement. Unfortunately Frostbite has only 2 snow camos and 2 woodland camos. Anyway if you are interested I can go on but I need some 200 Norwegian names
callmehobbes
That would fantastic! Will the mod be based on Arctic, woodland or desert skins. (in Afghanistan the Norwegians wore a mix of woodland clothing and desert same as old US 6 colour (choc chip) camo.) I know nothing about modding so maybe this is too complicated but how about using the woodland model as a basis and adding the US camo on several of the characters trousers/jackets. Also swapping a few heads so there are woollen caps, boonie caps, shemags baseball caps and bare heads. I have a few books on the topic (Norwegian SF only) so if I can help with any info.(ops, uniforms, equipment) let me know. As for the names - no idea (though my own name Skuse is Scandanavian in origin but I know no more than that!) Callmehobbes PS- Very excited about this!
