Suicide Commando 0
The XM29 projects been cancelled by the DOD. Everyone prolly thinks it's useless modding a weapon that's never going to see actual combat.
pz3 338
bad design imo... look where his finger is and brass ejection is.
EricJ 0
I know a scout who holds his M4 like that, and more less, the bolt is designed to flip the casing up and out, so he more than likely wouldn't have any problems.
blakarion. 0
@ suicide commando : yep, I know the project is cancelled - however sometimes projects get ressurected later (sometimes under different titles etc). In this game of future-war, there can be a case for the US restarting the project and eventually puting it into the hands of a few elite units, like our beloved Ghosts (another fictious unit that may exist one day........) However - your proab right, who would spend time to make a superb model of this great looking weapon (hint hint) @Erik j / Prozac360 : yea imao not a great design, with the cocking handel in a real easy place to take your finger tips off - but by redesigning the foregrip that can easily solves all the finger probs (sigh) we will never know now Anyway - any Modellers out there looking for another project ?????? DWG 0
The XM29 projects been cancelled by the DOD. Everyone prolly thinks it's useless modding a weapon that's never going to see actual combat. XM29 has not been cancelled. It has been split into the XM8 and the XM25 for spiral development (common DoD terminology for doing the bit we can now and the rest later). If they can eventually get the XM8/XM25/fire control computer combination down to a usable weight then that will be fielded as the XM-29. Don't hold your breath for it, but it's premature to say XM29 is dead. What's almost certainly dead is the 20mm Airbursting round, as the XM25 will use the 25mm airbursting round designed for the OCSW.
swifty 0
dwg is exactly right. it's interesting that the US military is developing essentially a semi-automatic high tech rpg, and is intent on deploying them generously at the squad level. until now doctrine has revolved around using the suppressive fire of a SAW to advance on the enemy and keep their heads down. couple those tactics with a weapon that can kill targets in defillade, plus the increased emphasis on sharpshooters, and you have a pretty potent fire team structure indeed. BornToKill 0
Well seing as Ghost recon is set in the near future then why not model a gun that may see action in the next 10 years
blakarion. 0
.....which is why I would like the NEW versionof the OICW as a Model ! We have models of the SPR, SPC, XM8 etc etc one of which will be the next major US weapon system (or all) - so why not the 'Ultimate' Infantry Weapon (in its newest config) Anyway - it doesnt seem like anyone is interested in Modelling it anyway - ho hum, looks like Im gonna have to learn 3dsMax5
