Bob The Nailer 0
Me being from the states I'm asking anyone on these forums why the series appears to only have 2 seasons? I'm dying over here since they just released the second series and I went online and found that there were no more to come. Not that I can't watch that second season 100 times (and I probably will). They're apparently making an american version and I'm sure it will be complete rubbish. Anyone who has seen the original and could look forward to our version surely didn't get the genius of it all. Rambling.....any help on why it didn't continue. Over here they milk a series for years until people have no choice but to keep watching simply because they refuse to put any quality programs on at all.

You answer your own question. Over here, we dont. Some of the finest comedy produced on UK TV was on a 1 or 2 series basis, Fawlty Towers being a prime example. It's the same with mini Mars bars. Taste far better than King Size. Less is more.
Avey 0
Theres a 2 part XMAS special as well.
Ell 0
The Christmas specials were amazing!!!! I'm guessing it was never aired state-side.
magnumkp 0
Theres a 2 part XMAS special as well. Yeah, and they were rubbish. The office was mildly funny, but it isn't genius comedy. It is just making people cringe, which they believe is funny. David Brent isn't a million miles away from Ricky Gervais so he isn't even a good actor (despite the awards). The guy who played Tim should have got them. As Boz said they stop making them before they get rubbish, or need a panel of 20 script writers to find new jokes. Even only fools and horses started to get desperate during the early 90's with their doppelganger story, the millionaire story etc.
Avey 0
Yeah, and they were rubbish. Your just annoyed because you look like Gareth.
Pyro_Monty 0
An example of a great British comedy ruined by over-milking is Red Dwarf. They managed to keep it going for a good few years without losing quality (in fact, it could be said it improved up to a point), but can anyone actually remember Season Eight? It was pathetic, not to mention repetitive.
Bob The Nailer 0
The office was mildly funny, but it isn't genius comedy. What I actually meant was that there was genius to it or in it if you will. I didn't mean to make it sound like the end all be all of comedic genius.
Bob The Nailer 0
It is just making people cringe, which they believe is funny. It is funny to a point to make people cringe but I think the truly great comedy in it all is the facial expressions and nuances of the characters in the scenes as it is playing out. Dick Splash 23
It's the same with mini Mars bars. Taste far better than King Size. Good on ya Mr Whaler. Blimey.......an American that likes 'The Office'.......now that 'is' a rarity DS
Dan 0
Bloody brillant show! A mate had both series on DVD, so i spent a weekend watching em! I pray for a series 3, end of series 2 left it WAY to open! It's the same with mini Mars bars. Taste far better than King Size. To an extent yes, but whats with Fun Size? Its not fun at all! Its tiny and jts makes you want more !!!!!
BlueRose_76 0
Season 1 is just aired now overhere, so ive got 1 1/2 season to go. whee. I have to agree with magnumkp. It isnt that funny, but the painfull situations will make you laugh because of decency. It is still of a genius quality imo (just seen the 3rd episode) and i wonder if it will continue like that. Really like the soundtrack, cant get out of head. Edited April 30, 2004 by BlueRose_76
insaneflyingmonkey 0
Nah, genius British comedy was Monty Python... those shows are completely stupid, random, and trail-off-ish, in a VERY good way... they're still fairly popular in Canada, or at least round my town they are... If you like Monty Python, the Canadian equivilant is Kids in the Hall...
supasniper 0
comic genius on tv can be summed up in 2 words: Phenoex Nights!
magnumkp 0
And those 2 words spelled correctly: Phoenix Nights.

magnumkp 0
Who sings the Office theme song? I want to download it. Stereophonics? It's "Handbags and Gladrags" by Big George. Originally by Mike D'Abo, 'phonics did a cover of it as did some other people (most notably Rod Stewart) http://homepage.mac.com/elliottday/theoffi...s_gladrags.html http://www.net4nowtforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14874
