how do i hide or delete and object

im redoing beach resort into a winter sceen (trying to) now on the water there are two boats i want to make them not there. i use photoshop 7.1 ive never done anything like this and dont under stand how to can someone explain it in dummie terms.

but i dont see where i can create a alpha channel for the boat and cover it in blk. do i make a new layer and save it as a alpha? and then color the alpha blk? or cover the boat blk and do something after that?

some help would be great

Open the image you want to mask.

ctrl+a to select all.

Select\Save Selection Name it Alpha 1

Click on the channels tab. Make sure the rsb doesn't have multiple channels named after surface properties. If it does, select those channels and delete them.

Select your new alpha channel in the channel pallete.

Edit\Fill Select black from the list.

Save the file into your mod\map\beach resort directory as a rsb.

In the rsb settings dialog check the following:

A4R4G4B4

In the alpha test frame select the alpha tested check box.

From the drop down menu select Never.

Set the reference value to 0.

Click ok.

thanks so much boat is now gone. now another question i cant get the water movement to stop i applied my snow texture. and i also cant get rid of the water splashing sound when running through it? any thoughts on this

If those boats are dynamic map objects you can just script them out completely via IGOR. I cant recall if those particular ones are dynamic or not, I know that the ones in the little MP map are dynamic and I really think those might be as well.

thanks sleeper. i have the boats gone but cant get rid of the water sound while running through it and the snow is moving like water. LMAO kinda funny to see but looks like it will make a killer map if i can get it to work.
