nVidia Graphics Cards

Tomshardware has the 6800 running circles over the XT and the 5950... nearly twice as better with the AA, AF, and resolutions bumped up.

It's going to have a hefty price tag. Hopefully it'll drop the 5950 price down.

Please someone tell me, what is anisotropic filtering and what does it do?

A classic example is a texture with text; recall the text at the beginning of every Star Wars film that sets up the story. As the text scrolls off into the distance, its resolution and legibility both tail off. Another example is in a billboard of a racing game, where the text looks fuzzy and/or disproportionate without AF, and much clearer with AF applied. In the games I play I always have it turned off because I really don't see where it improves anything. I've even tried it with some of my racing games and still didn't see any improvement to justify having it on because it does have an effect on FPS. AA on the on hand makes a big difference and greatly improves the picture quality. :-"
