WhiteKnight77 1
I see snakes, skids, Blackhawks, Sky Pigs, Buffs and suck and blows (jets, get ur mind out of the gutter) every day. I was born on a military base, lived on or a military base all of my life. Every once in a while I see a new F-22 Raptor fly around and on occasion, I have seen the electronic intelligence plane that had a mid-air and had to set down in China fly around on a test flight. Csmith_Fan 0
I remember back in 89 when I was living in Michigan, there was an Ari National Guard base about 30mi away. Usually 2-3x a week, there would be flyovers of my house in the woods. Mostly F-16s yet low enough to where you could tell if the pilot had his visor up or down. Best fun was going to the observation area and watching the newer units up for training come up. Besides the air traffic, there is also a CRT course that the NG and the various SWAT teams use for training. Now that's fun...paintballing with some State police SWAT and "not going by the book" (like running AT the SWAT with a hotloaded paint grenade in both hands and grinning from ear to ear as you hear someone mutter "Oh great......") magnumkp 0
I used to live near a US Airforce base (I still in the same house, it was the base that closed down) and we used to get those AWACs (Airborne Warning and Control System) flying round us quite a lot, and quite a few different jets (I was too young too recognise what they were, in fact I wouldn't know what they were if I saw them today.) Where I work we regularly get Sea King helicopters come over, but I very rarely see them. My last close encounter with a military helicopter was when a girl at the local private school had forgotten some books on returning after a summer break. Her dad (a big wig in the army) landed on the front lawn of the school, and dropped them off. Glad to see our taxes are being put to good use.

NYR_32 6
I've had some fun experiences seeing military aircraft....one of the kewlest was the time a B2 Spirit flew up the Hudson river! Flew right over my head...the coolest part was that I saw it way before I could hear it....gotta photo of it too...I also had a close encounter with a Harrier...also over the hudson river....damn thing was loud as hell...but it was awesome to watch it hover and manuver. I've seen some Blackhawks and saw an F-15 flying really around my old HS...but the reason for that wasn't nice...so i didn't get a kick out of it.

magnumkp 0
Are you calling me a liar? Huh? Only joking. I'm not 100% sure if the AWACS actually flew out of the base or we were on a flight path, or what, it was quite a while back, and all I remember are these huge planes flying high with big mushrooms on the back. I'm straight out the Suffolk hood btw, IIRC you are in Norfolk, that might explain it(?)

So you probably are on the flight path, those things go anywhere and everywhere!
Matt03 0
I was working one day and I saw two AH-1's fly by. They were about 200-300 yards away and they were still pretty loud. They were only a few hundred feet off the ground close to a residential area.
