Crimson 0
Is there a way to change the size of a partition, after programs have been placed on its drive?
Dannik 43
It is possible, but there is a non-trivial risk of losing your data. Still, it's a reasonably safe thing to do. Partition Magic is the only app I'm aware of. It's also been around for a long time, and it's very popular. There's no free trial that I'm aware of, though.
Crimson 0
Thanks Dannik... I'm trying to install SuSE 9.0 the easiest way possible.
Urban_Tiger 0
If you are running WinXP you can Partition drives without 3rd party applications !! Depending on your setup you can do it through the Administrative tools: Computer Management: Disk Management. Right click on the Drive you wish to Partition and the option to do it may be active. If it is "Greyed Out" then you can just as easily do it from an MS-DOS Prompt and it's actually pretty simple to do !! You can get a lot of futher info on it using Windows Help on Partitioning and all of the necessary comands are explained there and it takes literally 30 seconds to do !!!! Crimson 0
I don't want to partition anything, I wan't to resize a partition, but thanks for the info. I tried Partition Magic 7 with no luck, so I'll just wait for my next format is needed.
Brass 0
just be sure to check what type of file system you are going to use . the old computer guy at work where I took his place left me with a 6 gig hdd. He couldnt figure out why he had only 2 gigs of useable space because he set up a fat 16 filesystem. I still have issues with other stuff he has done.
