Sup 0
I've read mixed reviews. Also, is the mission pack good? Edited March 12, 2004 by sup
[GRT1]Kpl.Eli 0
its how you look to it, I find the game not that great at all, much of the players cheat a lot, but ok where dont they do this. and about the characters, i find it a bit strange looking, but hey thats my opinion,... kp
Jack57 0
I got bored with the SP and never finished it. However, we played the MP at my LAN club and it really is quite good fun. Jack
WytchDokta 6
Most fun I've had online....Cheaters? In MP? Where? I ain't seen none....maybe cuz I host a co-op server only open to those who want to play the way it's meant to be played, without cheaters/rambo's/campers etc Still gotta love Nhut's favourite saying: "Communist peeeeeeeeeeegs!!" At least it has iron sight views (even if they are a little messed up) not like GR....and at least you can customise your MP character with headgear etc in MP....Gotta love that new Sombrero hat you can select for MP in the expansion pack.... M14 owns except it's stupidly too underpowerful....the M16 is more powerful than the M14 in the expansion pack which is just wrong (apparently the M16 is more powerful than the AK in Vietcong too) They released like 7 patches for it.... ....AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T PUT THE POXY FRONT SIGHT ON THE M60!! budgie 1
I played the SP campaign right through and had some fun, but there's no replay value. One caveat: there are some seriously long maps where you must go solo. These were yawn inducing and frustrating, but not difficult. When you're in the jungle patrolling with a team however, it's some of the best SP tension I've ever had. Just like a war movie. The friendly AI doesn't need as much babysitting in as in GR either. The MP is good and the iron sights limit run and gun tactics, forcing you (and any twelve year old CS geeks with lightning reflexes you're playing against) to slow down or stop before aiming. Rets can be toggled on/off in the server controls by the host so loser can still play the traditional way, but I find most serious MP players use Iron Sights. Haven't got the exp pack, so ask Nightmare about that (can't find it in HK, for some reason!) In all think of Vietcong as COD in the jungle: Fun SP for a once-over, good MP if you play with the right people. For MP I prefer America's Army (also better when played with the right people) but those damn rets lend the game to Counter Strike Cowboy Hell. WytchDokta 6
"VC over dere!!" Gotta love Nhut....gotta love Douglas' country accent in the expansion pack too. Hornster owns....but not as much as Bronson....
