the.ronin
its cool to see this thread still getting all sorts of responses. i think gr was always meant to be played cooperatively. its like i keep saying, its not how many you kill, its how cool you look doing it! for those trying to find cool coop games, i recommend finding games set without threat indicator, elite and no respawn. sure you can still go rambo on them but its more conducive to players watching each others backs. try to setup general game plans too like "ok dude, you watch the left flank while we storm the sub" so at least theres some sort of plan in place. as for movement, keep checkin your map to see what direction your buddy is facing (ALWAYS use the buddy system) and try covering a different angle. good stuff. husker4269
Nice thread Ronin. The Rambos of the world will figure it out one day. ###### and vinegar are no match for age and treachery.
Specter
Age, treachery, and a good team strategy. In the field, its all about the team.
SSR4000
I figured that out the hard way
McNamee
But you could be a Rambo in a skillful way, as long as it kills the enemies and not yourself, but i'm no Rambo, i personally prefer teamwork
supasniper
It also has to be said that it depends on the situation.
Specter
But if you think about it from the teams point of view, on a real team, there is no room for Rambo style shenanigans, even skillful ones, because Rambo is still a loner, and on the team, there is no room for a loner, no matter how skilled. What happens is, if Rambo runs off to do the single handed thing, then his team mates, that dont have a Rambo ego thing going, will have to cover, and possibly follow because they are thinking of a team mate, and Rambo will get them all killed. Completeing a successful mission isnt about who gets the kills or who gets the most kills. Its about accomplishing a dangerous objective and bringing every team mate home alive, PERIOD. Ive seen clans out there that are setup to have 2 guys do all the killing to get kills while the rest of the team sits around in the back. Ultimately, the mission fails, even though those two peoples kill scores look good. Every man on the team has a job to do, and a team backing him up to make sure he comes home. That way, everybody wins. Not just a couple guys with good kill scores, but failed missions. Kills mean nothing, if the mission fails. Ultimately, hostages die, or worse, are tortured, and secrets stolen, whatever your oblective, it fails. I say, you want to be Rambo, go to Hollywood, or go play UT. You wanna get in a clan and play serious GR, which is what most clans want to do, I believe, leave Rambo and the ego at the door, and get with the team program. Thats just how I see it. Its not a flame or anything against anyone. I just see Ramboism and teamwork as totally contradictory ideals. dekela
I have only been playing mp for a short time, but have seen and participated in both ramboism type play and team style. When i first started i saw a lot of people running and gunning so i thought that was how it was done on mp. After dying a lot i started to follow around some of the guys who weren't getting killed all the time and watch them. I dont have team speak and cant type fast enough in game to chat, but there seems to be an un-spoken way of playing as a team. Just by manouvering correctly and covering others as they move in turn ensures that they do the same for you. I admit that my kills are down, but then so are the number of times i spawn too, which i see as being more important. I prefer team and my stats may not be great but, if i find you than i will kill you, and if i dont the guy next to or behind me will. One last thing, i prefer not to have respawns cause after the first you are stuffed from the campers any way, although not all people camp.
