Lt.Dan
I personally love rambos. They make such good targets when they stroll out from behind cover, fireing their M-249 from the hip. They usually only get a few shots off before I shut them up, and those few are usually in the wrong dircection. So keep on ramboing! It keeps my kill count up. Zantar45
LOL Nothing like kicking back, laying down watching the sky, maybe sipping some lemonade, then dropping a Rambo. But there is a big difference between Rambos and support users that actually help instead of Run n Gun.
Lt.Dan
As a sniper by trade, I would say that the M-249 is my hero, being that I've been saved by a support teamate a few times. But it also tends to be the rambo weapon of choice, I never understood why somone wants to lug a machine gun into combat, and then try to run with it.... Like I said, easy targets. Zantar45
The funny thing is when you hear automatic fire you drop and look around, well those that run and gun just stand there and run towards you M249 blazing, and you would think that they would know that you have the advantage since you dropped and aimed and they didnt. the better man is left standing...er....laying down....er.....still alive!.....yeah alive... Lt.Dan
Still alive sounds good! I like being alive! I have yet to be killed by somone charging me, although usually it scares the bajeezesus out of me. Usually I just drop to prone and put a round in their chest/head. The funny thing about rambos with the m249 is that in order to be accruate with that gun, you either ave to beright next to the guy, or prone. So I have guys running within 15 feet of me and not laying a round on me.

Zantar45
When ever I take support, I try to use 3-4 round bursts. 7 out of 10 times I hit them. The lately the only time I go full auto with support on someone is if they sneak up on me or I run into them. Heres something funny, I dont know if Im getting real good with the support or its the others fault, but lately Ive been picking off snipers and riflemen from long distances with the M3G and the M249. Maybe the snipers I have been killing couldnt find adeqaute cover?Maybe I killed them as they spawned? maybe they were AFK? Either way Im starting to see the appeal to taking support. lol

Zantar45
All Im saying is that I can play any role in GR, and Im just amazed how lax most of these players are getting when they take the role as a sniper. Sniper is a honorable role, they watch over the lives of their team, the install fear into the hearts of enemies...and.......they.....um......ah crap. I forgot the whole sniper winding speech......uh......SNIPERS RULE!!! ROCK "N" ROLL

fr1j0l3
I agree with the teamwork comments... It's cool to see two folks covering each other's 6, and leapfrogging, but it's even cooler to check the map and see 3 sets of that going on at once... well organized is tuff to beat, and if most of the rambos would take the time to play the no-spawn games, they would much rather slither around and live longer, than sit and watch someone else... Zantar45
On the River map ( big river not mutli player one) usually the way it goes is, both teams kill each other at the camp/river crossing and at the bridge area. Well one time when I was a sniper, I snuck down the winding path by the bridge and crawled all the way to the hosties, never being seen and never firing. All around me there was gun fire , death , destruction. It took me about 10 minutes of crawling to get back to the base, and no one even saw me. I dont think I had that much of a rush since that. Sure its easy to hold down a button and point in a general direction firing like a mad man, but it never gives you the sense of realism , the sense of life and death as playing as a sniper does. I guess its the whole one shot one kill thing and for support its how many bullets you can zing by before you get lucky. Dont know, I could be wrong. **just remembered, sniping with the MP5 kinda gives that effect also **
X69RZX
Sure, it sux when a turd flies out and spoils your good cover. And yes they do make good bait for the enemy. But, the fact is somebody's gotta run out there and show me where they're at. I think people, ramboes and non ramboes, need to learn to look around and see wats happening. Maybe take a look at your command map every once in a while, then maybe they wouldn't get so many TK's. It seems like every time I play online I get shot from right where someone on my team was just at. KILL KILL KILL, that's the real point my friends, camping and doin nuthin, or runnin through a doorway and gettin shredded doesn't help the cause. Oh yeah, and it sux too. Meprolite
NOTE: The majority of this is in response to the question of rambo's in co-op. Playing vs. humans its obvious that teamwork is required at all times. I don't get this thread at all. You have a guy here who hates Rambo's but proudly confessed to being a team killer. Forgive me for coming from left field, but I think the latter is the bigger tit. On one hand you all say that rambos die in 10 seconds, but on the other you complain about them. What's the problem? If they're dead that quickly they lack the skill to have any impact on the game whatsoever. They're out immediately so it's as though they weren't there to begin with. Why waste the energy whining? Personally, I play at the required speed. For stock GR missions the environment is exactly the same every time. The tangos will always be in the same place so why bother dawdling along in a bounding overwatch through an area that you know to be clear? How boring. I rush those areas and, if I find myself all alone with my team needlessly covering each other near the spawn, I'm not going to wait for them to catch up. I can complete most vanilla missions solo on elite without spawns so it's not like I desperately need them or anything. If I die, I die. They should speed up or shut up. Right Hand missions, or missions that are heavily randomized are different. For those I do need my teammates, and my teammates need me. There I'll slow down, scan my sectors, and build up trust. We'll move as a unit, maintain 360 degree security and laugh at the fools who think they've got the ammo (let alone skill) to make any impression solo. It's horses for courses. If you want people to bunch up and play proper squad based missions, you should run servers that require the skillset. If you're going to run easy vanilla missions or 30 man firefight then forget about it. Those can be completed solo, and people will try. You need to break away from the notion that Rambo style players are doing it wrong. It's only wrong if it's unsuccesful. If I can complete a mission solo then there's something wrong with the mission, not with me. ...and Team Killers suck! I'd rather play with n00bs, rambo's, and ultra-careful sensor whores than share a server with some ###### who thinks its cool to TK. the.ronin
its all in just different styles of play man. its not written anywhere that the goal is to kill AS MANY in AS QUICK a time. for some, they appreciate coming up with tactical maneuvers EVEN IF its on a mission map with predetermined tango locations. they like to hone down their engagement strategies and play around with new ways of engaging. for them, its no a matter of who gets the most kills in how little a time, its a matter of looking cool and living out black hawk down fantasies! sounds funny, yes, but last time i checked, this was a video game. but beyond that, heres a little anicdote for you. anyone thats a veteran at the House will attest to some of the op plans being implemented there. one in particular is a plan we have for the subtle keep mission which essentially calls for an ambush of the patrol by way of claymore. every so often, we get a rambo goin in there, breaking plan and engaging very very prematurely at the patrol. the ambush can take as much as 4 minutes with potentially LOOOOONG times of wait. but every so often we get one rambo breaking ranks, running up and lobbing one nade killing them all in 5 seconds flat. impressive? absolutely. but when we get to the roadblock, everyone and their ###### mother is up in arms and not 80 meters to it, we are barraged with bulletfire. so how cool was the rambo then? (alternatively the ambush waits for the patrol to be in a reasonable distance from the roadblock thereby ensuring that we have not been made.) its just different styles of playing but my point is there can be an awful lot of reasoning behind what may initially appear to be superfluous "waiting around." You didn't say whether you dicussed the plan in the lobby beforehand. Assuming you had, and someone went rambo anyway, then you'd have reason to be annoyed. If they didn't like the plan they should have left. Staying just to be a "spoiler" is poor form. My post was directed more at the types who say, "Team work!" in the lobby and then start. If there's no predefined plan, there is going to be alot of superfluous covering and very little movement. I honestly can't be bothered to sit around for 5 minutes slowly traversing ground that I know to be clear. A Good team and a tough op is good for role playing. A poor team on a simple op is less so. In the latter case, I'd rather practice my spearhead skills.

Chavez
If you haven't played it already - here is a good test of your Rambo factor. Download the SR2003 mission "Grozny" here and play it. If you and your team are dead/has blown away the Russian objective before reaching the 4th corner your Rambo factor is still too high. I have had a great time watching some Rambo wannabies blow this one away pretty quick.

tonylfi4
I'd really, really like to find the kind of team cooperative group you all are talking about. I've only recently begun playing GR via Gameranger on my dual 1.25gig Mac g4, but have had some experience with R6 and RS. I can't stand the "shoot 'em up" options for game play- shucks, it just isn't reality. anyways, I'd sure like to join a group who works heard n team co-op play. I pass the age requirement by many, many years and, while I can play to victory several GR firefight scenarios as a lone player (set to elite with 3 respawns) and no time limit, I still regard myself as a "noobie." Parenthetically, the game has real-world benefit to me in that I am a multiply certified LEO and non-sworn citizen weapons instructor. thanks in advance for any help you all might be able to give me, tony
WhiteKnight77
I think you will find most games hosted by guys here on GR.net (myself included) prefer coop games vs. team or solo games. Don't get me wrong, some of the team games are fun if played right (there is one mission type that requires copperation in both Coop and Team gameplay and allows for play both ways and it is called Timebomb. It is a server side only mod with the only the host needing it on his system for all to play) and a good time can be had by all. If you think about this really, this game is made for coop and with the right group of guys is great to play. Keep an eye on the Games Room Forum for IPs. They will list what, if any mods are needed. I am not sure if IT is out for Macs yet, but if it is, get it and make sure your game is patched to 1.4. You should not have any problems joining any games here. Banger
Hey i know UBI is all about these quake players. My friends and i use solid communication, well executed maneuver (most times, damn that murphy) and usually smoke those rambos as they run into well planned kill boxes and fields of fire. If any ubi people want to play some co-op with a "team" type group. We play missions, including frostbite, with elite settings and 1 respawn. llok for us. hero2zer0
surely u cant compare the AI with human being...after completeing all three official campaigns i can almost predict the AI's next move and only exceptional single player modding can somewhat make the AI more of a challenge...
