troubled_son
quite pleased actually for my very first attempt with Max, obviously still need to improve the modelling and the texturing has me baffled... especially when i see works of art by chems... ha ha anyway here it is L1a1 with regards to the texturing, anyone know of any good tuts, i have already checked out the ones on this site and the bacon bomb ones.... cheers TS
troubled_son
ps this took me 30 minutes.... so not like i have worked me fingers to the bone.... just wanted to see if i could do it in the first place
larocket83
Doesnt look bad to me, but post some other angles, like a perspective view, so it actually looks 3d.
troubled_son
i would, but my texturing leaves a lot to be desired, it really was hit and miss that i actually got a texture on there at all... plus i only have basic Max skills, and want to learn how to Champher (is it) edges and Boolean out sections etc... ahh why not... i welcome any suggestions... especially regarding texturing, as my textures didnt seem to match anywhere near the tuts i have been following, had a lot of re-positioning to do... ill take another pic and fire it up

Matt03
You might want to do an elipse for the butt stock.
troubled_son
and that would have what sort of effect?
San
Elipse is more round (it's like a smashed circle !, sorry couldn't describe it better).

OsM_Prodigy
heh, looks like there's more than asprin in there. i think i see a couple Viagras. what is this an old man's pill stash or something? but anyway. yeah, i think that's what they meant. its like an oval. but elipse is a more technical term for it(i guess). Stewy
Just a Question TS - Should there be three air holes cut into the forestock wood - I think, IIRC, that the Aussie SLR's had that (the older ones I mean, the newer ones had three small circular holes... troubled_son
any pics i have seen , there are 2 oblong holes... and the web page i took that texture from stated it was a British l1a1 model but the site could be wrong...
troubled_son
its hard to know... i have found it very hard getting decent pics of the weapon in the first place, and even action pics, its hard to tell what model is being used.... anyone who served in the british army circa 1970's - 80's care to shed any light... ? Argyll
The only model used was the L1A1,some in the 70's were fitted with wooden furniture, and the 80's were plastic, the 2 vents are correct, got my pinkie stuck in there once, not nice!! There were several different slide assemblys(covering the working parts),one for Iron sights, which was just plain, and the other for the SUIT sight, there was also one IIRC for the attachment of the IWS,I'll need to look out some of my old photo's to confirm! Some guys manufactured old pistol grips and attached them to the stock of the rifle with Jubilee clips,as there was no fancy RIS system on that weapon. Best weapon I ever used, total stopping power!!
