Hello again ;)

Another small problem here, Im trying to model a tree,

I assigned the texture, made a plane and give it a UVWmapping and unwrapping.

But when I press the box for the texture to come on (on the edit uvw screen), it does NOTHING except switching to a more 'black' background.........

any ideas?

oh yeah I use Max5 and there are quite some less buttons on the uvwedit screen than i saw in the tutorial.....

greetz :wacko:

First it's not necessary to use both a UVW map and unwrap UVW modifier. Only use the unwrap UVW when texturing objects like this. In your material editor, have you clicked the show map in viewport button? It's the blue and white dice there).( For leaves remember to also set the leafs to 2sided in the mat. editor.) After you have applied the unwrap modifier, open it, select polygon, click the plane and click planar map in the modifier window. Now you should see the texture in the viewport. :sheep:

Edit it as you want after that!

i must be doing somth wrong,

1) when plane is created > give material + whiteblue dice +2sided

2) editable mesh

3) unwrap uvw

4) edit paramters of unwrap, texture not there..............

:wall::wall::wall:

when i open the unwrap i cannot select a polygon, a polygon is only there with the editable mesh.....

*sigh*

Try to change the plane to a editable mesh before you use the Unwrap UVW modifier. I would also recommend you to go trough some of the basic tutorials that comes with 3d Studio Max before you actually try making a map. I went trough most of the basic and that paid off, but I still needed a little help and advices when starting mapmaking.

It's also possible to click show options in the unwrap window and set brightness manually, but I don't think this was the problem mordered actually had here. He couldn't even select the polys in the unwrap modifier.
