White Oak 0
I have had the free Zonealarm firewall for months and had no probs, however these last two nights i have had probs connecting to the net. When i go to log on , it just sits there saying finding site. If i switch zonealarm off i can connect, but if i switch it back on i get the same as earlier. I even uninstalled it, the downloaded another and i get the same. I am used to using this firewall, i have had no probs in the past, so you can see my concern. I still use the built in XP firewall, i always run these two together, and as said no probs till now. Any thoughts or ideas much appreciated.
WhiteKnight77 1
What are you logging on to? A website? The internet?
White Oak 0
The internet, my start page. But even when it won't load, i can't access any other site either. But had no probs previous.
Dannik 43
Not the answer you are looking for, but.... ZoneAlarm has always been a finicky beast. But, being freeware, and popular, it's a common download, and rightly so. May I recommend Sygate Personal Firewall as an alternative? Like ZoneAlarm, it does application filtering. But, unlike the free version of ZA, it also allows advanced port/IP/protocol/time-based rules. It's got a smaller footprint, simpler and more useful logging (IMHO) and is less intrusive systemically than the ZA offering. Yeah, not the solution to your problem, but something to consider if you can't resolve it, or for those looking for a free alternative to the (useless) XP firewall. Best of luck with your situation.
