Hello there, I have this problem and I transmit it to you expecting an answer:

-It's impossible to me to create something interesting with 3ds, and I manage much better with another 3d design app, called TrueSpace5. Does anyone know if there's any way to create maps with TrueSpace 5 instead of 3ds, or maybe with both at the same time (creating the map with TrueSpace 5 and then exporting it to 3ds max...)?

Thank you for reading and for replying (I hope :-P)

As far as I know there's only 3d Studio Max, that's officially supported to make maps with for GR. If it's possible to export a file from Truespace and into Max, I would also belive it's possible to make maps with this in some sort of a way. I have no idea if it's possible to open Truespace files in Max, as I never have tested the program myself, but maybe someone else know.

In the end, if you have 3ds Max, I think the easiest is just to make a map with this program.

Caligari's Truespace5 is compatible with 3DSM but it will only import and export 3DS-files.

So if you want to design your 3D in Truespace then it should be possible.

I don't think the geometry will become a big problem but you might want to test if the texture-mapping is converted properly.

It's not possible to export geometry for GR from within Truespace, as that plugin is only available for 3DSM v4 & v5.

I think you could texture it but not in the rsb-format. That's true.

You'd have to use the BMP format (or something similar) in Truespace and replace all the images as .rsb when you import it in 3DSM.
