For now, here is a small update for you guys, expect another one next week. All of the following, modelled and textured by me. Here are some more weapons that will be in the mod: A Navy PBR. (VERY common in Nam) an AH-1 Cobra Attack helicopter Thats all for now. Again this is only a small snippet of what we will be offering. Expect another update next week showcasing somemore eyecandy. Since we lost the thread on this website due to the hacking, too see previous screens of the mod go to: The Platoon: Year of the Monkey-thread. They are scattered throughout the thread. So the CAR-15 has a fixed butt stock on it? Never knew that. Looks really great, keep it coming! Love that PBR! Does that Cobra have the single engine and 6 barrel mini-gun that the G in Nam had? Does that Cobra have the single engine and 6 barrel mini-gun that the G in Nam had? if you follow that link to the thread at the platoon, you will see the regular m16a1 as well as some other weapons. That car 15 is actually the very first carbine version of the m16, that was introduced in Nam. IIRC, it proved to be very unreliable. Im not really a weapons guru so I dont know how the xm177 eventually transisitioned into the car 15, but I do know for a fact that the car 15 started out in Nam like the one above. funny thing actually about the Cobra. I never modeled that with intentions of putting it in this mod. I simply wanted to get into modeling helo's but I wanted something somewhat easy to start off with, so I chose that one. Its single engine, but isnt the Nam version. After I modeled it, i was so happy with it that I showed a lot of people, and I kept getting requests to put it in the mod. The nam version is actually very different then that one, so I cant really just make some changes, so Im still debating whether to put it in or not. I never originally modeled it with intentions of putting it in the mod, and I may not put it in. The vietnam era cobra actually had more differences then the rounded canopy...the whole front end was actually different. BTW..I havnt decided yet if the m14 will be in this mod, considering this mod deals with SEALs, and the m14 was more of an Army gun. you can get weapons to fire from helicoptors by using the turret tag, but the problem is that they want to move like the turret of a tank, so on some models they wont work very well. But the Marine Scout Snipers used the m14 as a scout weapon during Vietnam. Its funny that you would say that, considering you were one of the first people to tell me that scout Snipers used the Remy, that is untill I started my research. In fact if you want to get real technical...a lot of them just used high powered hunting rifles. Anyway...I would like to keep this thread open to people interested in the mod, so you have my MSN handle, you can argue with me there. The m14 is still a maybe considering it was still used a bit, but probably not any WWII weapons...not like a thompson or M1 or anything. And teh AK47 model, gorgeous as it is looks more like the kind of knockoff made by Pakistani or Afghan village gunsmiths. The Chinese type 56 would be a better example, in particular the magazine needs more stampings. Either way I'm gonna play it. I was a bit of a 'nam buff myself once. I was a bit of a 'nam buff myself once. well the 20 round mags were modeled from actual sized pics so im confident in the scaling. Im planning on keeping the xm-177 as a 30 round since one of its traits were the 30 round mags. as for the AK..I have never been to an afgani gunsmith...I just searched and these were some of the better photos I found of it, and I actually quite like it.
