Got some questions......

Hey all,

I'm new to the board but have used the site and the WT's. I hope you can answer a few questions.

Is there a way to carry the unlocked heroes from GR into DS or IT? I bought the Gold Edition because I was gonna marry Grey and make Ramierez best man! Now as I begin to play DS it's rookies again.

Are some of the heroes lame? It seemed that Osadze, despite the size of his gun, would come back from a mission with 0 kills or would open up at exactly the wrong time and place. I started to refer to him as 'Osadsack'.

What is the signifigance of the clicking sounds? Are they an indication of anything?

Will the AI teams use both weapons, or will they use the primary weapon only?

Do you folks consider using Igor to explore a map cheating or reconnaissance?

I'd like to thank Yodasplat, NYR, SOTO Mac, Crimson, Xian Saint, Sartillies, and Stalker for your excellent WT''s!

To answer your question about using igor to look at the map, is it cheating or not. It just depends on how you look at it, and what you decide is cheating. There are people out there at 2 total polar opposites. There are the kinds of people who think manipulating a glitch on a map in multiplayer is not cheating, and then there are people who think that reading a walkthrough is cheating. Using Igor to spot enemy troops is a sort of cheating i think. If you were to just play the game, and not use Igor, would you have known the troops were there? No. But if thats how you play, more power to ya, not my place to judge. I just think you should try and beat the game once before using a program to find where troops will be, or figure a map out.

Just my 2 cents. :starwars:

No.

It's your opinion, but IMO, some are more usefull than others.

Clicking noises? Enlighten me. ;)

Not sure about secondary weapons like the M9, but they will use grenades... with extreme justice. ;)

I would'nt consider it a cheat. Don't get used to it though, because more and more custom missions are becomming more dynamic.

I'd like to thank Yodasplat, NYR, SOTO Mac, Crimson, Xian Saint, Sartillies, and Stalker for your excellent WT''s!

No problem. Glad someone is finding them usefull.

I'll back things up a bit (because Crimson took care of the majoriy of the answers). Looking at the map for enemy LOCs is pretty much the same thing you do in the normal game. You blast through the level. You die. You shoot what shot you, then blast through the level until you die again. You are mentally mapping enemy locations. The only difference between looking at a map and doing it by trial and error, is the map takes less time.

Later on though, when you get a feel for the placement of enemies, you should not use the map, as it detracts from the overall sense of GR. by the time yo uare doing the Expansions packs, you should be able to beat most missions with 0 casualties. Well, except for a few IT maps. Those are bloody hard and will give you the thrashing of a lifetime.

To Geo,

To answer your question I wouldn't do it but if you wish and would like too do this the answer is yes you can. If you really want to do this then send me a private message with your email and I will tell you how to do it and you can have all specialists in all GR/DS/IT  Please try and do it as the game was intended but if you cave in then I offer my help.

He's asking that, once he finishes the Ghost Recon campaign, can he use the same specialists in the Desert Siege missions.

I guess I should restate my answer. You could, but you would need a mod to do it... and I dont think any mods out right now offer that.

All He needs to do is have the Unlocked Heroes Files ( With all of the Specialists in them ) installed for the 3 Parts of the Game, and He should be good to go.

http://www.sotoclan.com/Downloads/Fixes/c_...nlockedhero.xml ( "IT" )

http://www.sotoclan.com/Downloads/Fixes/d_...ockedheroes.xml ( "DS" )

http://www.sotoclan.com/Downloads/Fixes/un...cked_heroes.xml ( "GR" )

Right-Click on each separate link and Select Save As to Download and Install these Files to Your "Ghost Recon" Main Program Folder. Allow any Overwrites. Then Launch "GR" and You should have all Specialists available to You for OPs when You go into the Mission Planning Screen.

;)

Sincerely,

Thanks to all.

Can you stand more Q's and a couple of comments?

Does GR, etc. change behavior when you save a game and restart play at the save? I've never played a game that did this before.

To Crimson re the clicks: When I move through a mission I hear clicks or clicking sounds. Do you not hear them? I'm not sure that I can describe it more accurately than that. Anyone else hear 'em? (BTW: Why 2005? You haven't given up on '04 already have you? :D)

To SotoMac: Thanks for the excellent WT's :notworthy: but my question was more about why the game wasn't geared more toward rewarding the work done in the intial levels. My concern was that I had not played GR at a high enough level (elite) to bring those heroes with me into the expansion packs. It was also directly related to my troubles with DS3 and DS4 where silenced weapons seem to be required; but the only silenced weapons I had seen up to that point were in GR with Grey and Ramierez.

To Dark Ranger and supasniper: Checking it out!

I know what your talking about now. Do as WK advises. If that doesn't work, try updating your sound card drivers, if you have one.

Read this.

GR doesnt change its AI behavior. You just did something different, and the AI decided that a different solution was the best solution.

Battlefield 1942 changes it AI. Why? When a bot gets in a tank, it cannot use its infantry subroutine, otherwise it will continuously bump into objects and eventually blow itself up. Thats a pretty basic example.

GR doesnt do this. It has one AI, and thats for soldiers on foot. The Tank AIs, to my knowledge are a completely different set of combat routines (and scripted).
