i was wondering if it was possible to use actor files and character files from ds or it in regular ghost recon.

You would need to edit the GR actor files so they point to the character you want to use.

This is the line that you would need to change.

<ModelName> </ModelName>

An easier way to get different actors/characters is to use "BJB_SabreTeams_1-3." It is a great mod that allows you to select from various character models to use as your Ghosts.

Well i downloaded the osama character and that works fine....but i also wanted to use afew characters from i had seen(not for realease though just my own amusement) the proble with that is that i can see them in igor but when i load my mission it crashes if any of the characters are on it...thats what i need to fix

hmm, open an original chr.rsb, then copy all from the mod rsb and paste it into the original rsb, then save the original rsb ( WITH SAVE AS!!!!) in your mod folder using the filename, the broken rsb has..

I think I'm having a similar problem. GR crashes at the selection screen if I try to select my modded soldier and I've tried a number of things. To see if I had a format problem I went into my specialist directory and copied Scott Ibrihams. rsb's and put them into a backup folder. Then I opened the originals in the specialist folder with photoshop and pasted my textures on top. I did a File > Save so no rsb options came up, they should have been the same as the original. GR still crashed at the selection screen when I choose Scott Irbiham.

Essentially all I did was swap the textures, no other changes and no rsb options should be causing me to crash should they? If so then what the hell could it be? The only thing I can think is a Photoshop error when saving. I'm using 7.0 with the RSB plugin from ghostrecon.net

scarab, it sounds like your problem is in your soldiers actor file. check to see that everthing is perfect in the <modelname>,<LOD2>,and <LOD3> portion of the file, meaning the .chr files and those tags macth exactly. also check to see when you used the skiner tool that all the .chrs (.chr, .chr_a, and .chr_b) where consistantly skinned to the same .rsb image. these things are all crucial and will cause a ctd.
