Thumper1518 62
Do any of the weapons texturing masters out there (Para, swartz, Earl, the DTD guys...) know how to use the environmental tagging to alter the texture on a weapon? Or would I have to use a different .qob textured for the environment referred to ALA Standard Upgrade? Edited February 9, 2004 by Thumper1518
Ruin 17
AFAIK, that's the only way to do it, just lots of different kits. One QOB for each model you want to have camoed, and a kit to match.
lexsis 0
in the awsome new M-16 armoury, there are alternate skins included that are activeated like mods. they dont change automatically with the map but it works just as well.
Parabellum 12
I don't know of any way to change weapons based on environment, not without resorting to a custom-coded external app. That would be nice, though, wouldn't it?
Chems 0
yeah the m16 armoury way is simple and easy, just as long as you remeber, but what about the camo on the M24? I allways wondered how that was done. I think i once figured it out talking to shad but cant remeber what it was. Probably wrong probably hard coded into the game. But then maybe if you used that texture name on your models, and re made the texture so it was huge, youd get camoed weapons for each theater. See what i mean? Ie, if its named Camo_desert_m24 you make a new rsb about 1204x1024 and then in there put all your desert m16 textures for example, then another called Camo_woodland_m24 and then all your green land textures, hopefully it will change automatically. Cool if some one tries this out, get back to me if you do. Also those arent the real names, i just made umm up.
Matt03 0
Earl did this with Henry Rameriz in Standard Upgrade. You might would have to edit atr files and it still might be only doable with specialist unless you have totally different atr files for desert. Which might not be possible. Yeah, that only worked because he was a specialist that could only be played on Desert maps.
Thumper1518 62
It seems the only way is to have the .atr files refer to specific folders where the camo'd kits are. Unfortunately, that means that it is restricted to the specialists. Oh, well.....
Chems 0
Hu what are you guys talking about, i think youve mis understood, the henery ramirez was a new CHR that was refrenced in the jodit haile atr file. His camoed M4 was a seperate kit in the hero section which refrenced the to the .gun file of the m4sopmod_desert which in turn was in turn on a m4 desert qob. Now none of this is automatic its all done by earl, its not theather specific. OK i hope you understand that im sure thumper does, (man if he doesnt whats swetbat gonna be like lol) ok what i was sayin is RSE have done it, cause the camo on the m24 is green in IT and GR and Desert in DS. Howd they do this then?? I was suggesting making a test to see if you can make the RSB for the camo bigger etc etc i wrote it all in my last post. Read it carefully. I cant explain it again. eekkk good luck with this thumper, and im looking foward to swetbat, just for that lovly mp5 and l96 in your sig!
