i am trying to create some gear from scratch and up until now all my 3dsm creations have been fairly geometrical (weapons), could any of you seasoned modelers share some advice on making somthing along the lines of a back pouch and similar rounded-non-symmetrical objects.

-thanks

very impressive argyll.

it had occured to me to use chamfer for the box like pouches, but its things like knee pads that are presenting me with the most problems. oh wait, is a chamfer box different from chamfering in edit mesh?

I've used the chamfer with the Edit Mesh before. It's a bit more specific if you need it to be. You can chamfer an edge instead of the entire object with chamfer box. Plus, you can apply it to other base objects like cylinders or sub objects like polygons or vertices.
