DrGiggles 0
I have built a map in 3DSM and I am having a problem with portals and doors. I can't seem to get it right. I have made all the rooms I need and expanded them and then grouped them individually for the time being. What I am asking is if I could send my file to someone and they could look it over and tell me whats wrong with the two portals I have built and any minor errors on the map. It is not textured yet, so there's no worries with that?
deleyt 0
Maybe someone can help you if you say at least what the problem is. It might be something very simple that doesn't really need for anyone to look at your map.
DrGiggles 0
I really just want to know if I did the portals right. How can I find out if they're right? How do I test them?
deleyt 0
- Make a roomlist corresponding to the rooms you created in 3DSM. - Export your map to your map-folder. - Start IGOR, set up an environment and save it. - Set up a mission so you can run through your map and save that one aswell. - Start Ghost Recon, activate your mod, select your mission. That's it. How to achieve each particular subject is mentioned in detail in the Level-Builder.PDF BTW: you can also see if the portals work in IGOR. If they don't work right, your room will not show up or faulty. Edited February 5, 2004 by |rsi|â„¢deleyt
DrGiggles 0
I must suck at portals because they are named p1_2 and p2_3. When I export them they say: p1_2 not contained in room 2 p2_3 not contained in room 3 I switched my portal names to p2_1 and p3_2 and tried it and similar errors occured. Can I PLEASE email my map to someone so they can figure out my problem?
GRT 0
same thing happen to me HERE i figured out why mine was doing it,it was that the plane/portal wasnt fully in room _2.Like the door portal outlineing the rectangle of the door (if you know what i mean).after that i reexported and it didnt say i had a portal error so im geussing that fixed it Edited February 5, 2004 by IF_GRT
DrGiggles 0
The portal seems to be lined up right on. If anyone is interested in helping me by looking at my map, I will email it to you. I have read the tutorials and apparently failed. If you want it I would greatly appreciate it, because then you could tell me exactly what is wrong? Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the help
deleyt 0
Follow this LINK "Looking" at it is not the way to do it. you can't visually see if a portal is lined up exactly as it should. You have to use the snaps to line it up correctly. Edited February 5, 2004 by |rsi|â„¢deleyt
DrGiggles 0
Thanks guys for all your help!!! I did indeed fail at getting my portal right, even though you guys have given me in depth details on what to do. I apologize for taking up your guys time. If anyone will help a desperate man with his map, let me know and I'll email it to you. If not, thanks anyways. Someday I'll learn.
Zeko 33
DrG dont give up. And start with 2 rooms only. Go here http://members.lycos.co.uk/sansite/ or here {a malware infested website}/games/ghostrecon/tutorials/ and slowly go over tutorials. U'll learn all about portals, rooms, doors... Start with small stuff, not with 23 rooms (u mentioned that in other post). Good luck
