Bob The Nailer 0
I'll listen to all comers but I've never seen a car brought back to life like this. I'm a Ford man it's true but I'm not blind, I like plenty of other cars. The new Cobra doesn't even come close to this. I hope this car does real well for them. I'm just speechless so I'll stop here and let you all enjoy the majesty. BLOW MY MIND PLEASE
Cobblers 12
Very nice!! Not as good as my Mini Cooper though!
Bob The Nailer 0
Not even the same animal feller. My buddy has a nice mini. Black with white roof, rims and mirrors. He did the checked roof himself and it came out 10x better than the factory one.
Parabellum 12
I read a review of the GT in Car and Driver. They put it head to head with a Ferrari and a Porsche 911. The Ford handily stomped both other cars in almost every category. And it looks cooler.
Bob The Nailer 0
Doesn't surprise me in the least. The styling on this car tops everything I've ever seen in similar body types and they stomped them in performance the first time they made the car 35 0r so years ago. NYR_32 6
I saw one of the concepts at the New York International Auto show two years ago....by far the coolest car there...even nicer looking than the Porches and other expensive autos....
Yodasplat 0
I like that retro/seventies racecar style. Goodlooking!
Ruin 17
I'm with YS. Gotta love the styling. Looks like one sweet sweet car!
ReconSnake 0
If we're talking US cars, I'll take one of these instead please: But I'll admit, that new ford is sweet. Edited February 2, 2004 by ReconSnake
Bob The Nailer 0
I did like that when I first saw it but I think it's wat too overdone like many of the european performance machines.
magnumkp 0
The retro styling is because it is based on the old classic GT40 (Le Man winner a few times IIRC). It is a serious piece of kit. I saw a kit car version of the old one a few months back on a trailer and it really was nice. Shame they are only importing a few hundred into Europe (and more of a shame I can't afford it). But I would trade my whole family and my hat for this: THIS # 1 or THIS #
Bob The Nailer 0
Those Aston Martin's are sweet. They have always been at the very top of my list. The GT is a very specific machine though. The Aston are versatile. I would take the Aston first, but if I was really rolling in the dough I'd have to have a GT as well. WEP_Magnum 0
It's a very nice automobile. However, I'm not a big fan of how Ford is marketing it. A return to the old days of the GT40? If Ford really thought that they would have renewed the freaking trademark (GT40) when it came up several years back!!! They wanted to call the car the GT40, but the new owner of the trademark wouldn't let them.

I don't think the designers or engineers had anything to do with that. So it's to them that I tip my hat.

There must be more to the story than that. I don't think the designers or engineers had anything to do with that. So it's to them that I tip my hat. There is. As it happened, a while back Ford saw a chance to make a few bucks, and IIRC SOLD the GT40 naming rights to a small company making replicas, of course this was before retro was ever heard of. When they asked for it back, this small company politely refused, unless the Ford motor company forked over something in the lower tens of millions IIRC for the transfer. So (this is straight from the horses mouth) ford decided to call it the GT and save money, based on the assumption that everyone else would call it the GT40 by default., and they wouldn't have to. ***On a side note, the original was called the GT40 because it was 40 inches high. The new one is taller, and therefore using the same convention, would be more likely called the GT 42 1/2 or thereabouts.

WhiteKnight77 1
Para have you been dipping in the Rush again???? Invisible airways crackle with life. Bright antannae bristle with the energy. Emotional feedback, on a timeless wavelength, bearing a gift beyond price, almost free. Oh yeah, though I am not a really big fan of Fords, that is a good looking car. What' that one called again? It was in Bruce Almighty, and I looked it up, but I can't remember the name. I know they're made in California. EDIT - Nevermind. It's the Saleen S7. I just remembered. @ WK: Yeah, I've been in the Rush again. Spirit of Radio pretty much stays on in my head. I find myself singing it all the time.
