every once and a while reading posts for tips and such i hear about custom textures for weapons. i get by o.k. with profile images but i would love to put some more tools in my toolbox.

if anyone could share some tips or techniques to make the textures on weapons and other creations that much better, i would love to read them.

I Render faces of my gun... and then go back in photoshop and over lay textures on top. and go map it. then do some tuching up to make edges blend together a little better

To make the textures i usually use just a brush and smudge or blur tool and other various tools to clean it up.

I assign a UVW Map, then I unwrap the mesh onto a canvas, and export the mesh via Texporter, and then paint on the texture in PhotoShop. Since the model is already mapped and unwrapped, I simply have to apply the texture in Max. Very simple. :)

EDIT - By the way, that's a sweet looking texture Prozac. I know I've said it before, but, in my opinion, you've improved exponentially since the first time you let me preview your work. Two thumbs up to you dude. :)
