Nobody can join my game

Recommended Posts

I've tried to set up rooms so my friends could use my IP address to connect and we could play. The only problem is, my game doesnt show up on the multiplayer screen after they add my IP. If they try to connect, it just says "connecting......" the whole time. I've heard it could be firewall, and Im using Windows XP. I've turned off the XP firewall and deleted my Zone Alarm Pro, no programs are running besides msn messenger. When my friend starts a game (he is on 56k, Im on DSL.) I can join and play no problem. Can anyone help me?

Are you sure you Multiplayre settings are correct? I mean, do you know how to set one up? Check with your friend to see how he did it if you are unsure. With no firewall (you didn't have to delete it, just give GR permission to go online and act as a server) and no router there isn't much that can stop you from hosting a game.

Don't worry, you can host if you have a router, as long as you can do some port forwarding.

If you don't know how to port forward, please let us know the make/model of the router, so one of us can take you through it step by step.

If you do know how to port forward, Ghost Recon uses TCP/UDP ports 2346-2348.

Ok, here we go:

Accessing the Web Interface

1. In your Web browser Address box, enter the default router IP address http://192.168.254.254

2. On the Enter Network Password screen, enter the default username and password:

Username: admin

Password: admin

Then click OK. The SystemStatus screen is displayed.

3. Under Configuration Procedures on the Advanced Setup submenu, click Port Forwarding to configure one or more port forwarding services.

This is where it gets a little fuzzy for me, since I only have the manual to go by, and it's not terribly clear.

In essence, once you have the Port Forwarding dialog up, at the bottom of the window, enter the following values:

Protocol: TCP&UDP (if available, otherwise just TCP for now)

Service -> Starting Port Number: 2346 -> Number of Ports 3

Server OR Self: Check the "Self" box

Finally, hit "Add Service". If you configured this for JUST TCP the first time, add another forward with the exact same settings as you just entered, except in the Protocol box, set it to UDP, but keep the rest the same.

Now, once you have the ports forwarded, you can simply log out of the router control screen, and get your server started.

Let us know if that works?

hmmmm that would be the way to configure your port forwarding. if you send screen shots im sure we can walk you through step by step.

There is another way to configure your router to let you host and that is by setting up dmz to match you computers ip address. I cant walk you through that but it is a solution to your problem. (note USE THIS ONLY ONLY if port forwarding is not an option) the reason I say this is because it is putting your computer out in the open. think of it like setting your computer in the middle of some busy street and walk away! not smart and you may not like what happens to it while your gone. but it works and its simpler than configureing the ports.

let us know
