WytchDokta 6
So there's me downloading the latest H&D2 patch (v1.03 released a few days ago)....I'm on 56k and the patch is 66MB big. So download it with DAP cuz it will be quicker. I got the newest version of DAP btw. So it (finally) gets to 100%. A box pops up saying "Building Output". It' gets to about halfway through building output. Then....ctd. I reboot me rig. There's the patch .exe file on desktop. Time to install new patch!! I get another box pop up saying the .exe is corrupted or is infected with a virus, which is blatantly a lie - I downloaded the patch from the official H&D2 site and everyone else have been able to (download and) install it without any problems. So I chuck that .exe in the recycle bin (btw - why's it called "recyle bin"? it don't do much recycling), connect to the 'net, and fire up DAP again. ######?!! That's not right!! DAP what have you done? It now says the download is only 95% complete yet I had just fully downloaded it!! I double click on the H&D2 patch download in the DAP window. Connects to server, starts to download the patch from 95% which would only take like 15 mins on my 56k....and this is where the unexplained happens....[insert "Twilight Zone" music here] The download drops back to 25% downloaded!! How the hell can that happen? First of all, it fully downloaded, but upon building output I got a ctd. The it says it's only 95% downloaded. Then it goes back to 25% downloaded. SO I'm pretty annoyed cuz I spent all day downloading that and in the end DAP buggers it all up!! Nice one DAP, nice one son. Nice one DAP, lets have another one!! So, anyone have an answer to the unanswerable?
McNamee 0
I've never had any probs with DAP, must just be a one off...

And buy a PC magazing, DVD edition get the patch off there thats what i allways do.
Dan 0
I dont use any kinds of DAP or Mozilla etc, they just screw up things, i read somewhere that they dont like certain ISPs or servers or something that 56k uses. i dunno
WytchDokta 6
I dont use any kinds of DAP or Mozilla etc, they just screw up things, i read somewhere that they dont like certain ISPs or servers or something that 56k uses. i dunno Freeserve disconnect mefrom the 'net after I been on here for 2 hours. 66MB will take LONGER than 2 hours to download on 56k. Therefore I need DAP so I can resume the download. H&D2 has a neat "Autopatch.exe" file - when you run it (provided you on the 'net) it will autodownload the latest patch for ya. Why don't I use that then you ask? Well, as I just said, my ISP diconnect me after being on here for 2 hours and 66MB will take longer than 2 hours to download. AFAIK, you can't resume the download with autopatchers. Incidently, the fisrt patch was a small one so I used Autopatch.exe to download it. So, looks like I'm gonna be sat here all day downloading it again. Unless of course, someone download the patch for me and sends it to me on disk or whatever. I deleted GayZilla because it buggered up. For some reason, the Zipzilla part of it would lock up. I couldn't do anything until I pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL and stopped ZipZilla from running (ZipZilla came up after everytime you downloaded something). Then I downloaded Download Accelerator Poo cuz it's better and faster, and what happens? Download Accelerator Poo screws it all it all up!!
Dan 0
u got a friend near by with ADSL?
WytchDokta 6
Nope. 56k all round here. Look, lemme get the map from BT Internet.com showing which areas in the soouth west of England have broadband. This area ain't one of 'em. No broadband for a 50 mile radius....(ok so mayby not a 50 mile radius, more than likely alot less but you get the message....) 'Tis quiet you know, out here in the middle of nowhere. The only problem is, we don't get no broadband in the middle of nowhere!!
