I just went through this Tactical Gamer 2.0 mission. Here's how it went down. Hopefully you're familiar with it, if not I'll give a very brief overview. It's a farm day map and the objectives are

1: Plant doctor'd avionics at crashsite

2: Stage raid on house

3: Avoid major engagements

4: Get to extraction.

Anyone who has played this mission knows it is rotten with patrol so getting through it without a major engagement (and one set of eyes) is just about impossible. The insertion is in the river in front of the barn against the fence. From there I headed east up over the river bank along the fence heading toward the normal insertion area. Most of the patrols in this area are on the rise along the river so I was able to get up and run for a bit while keeping my eyes on the distant patrols.

I broke northwest along the fence at the usual insertion zone. It wasn't long before I had to go prone again. Slowly slithering up over the rise while keeping my eyes on the patrols on my southwest flank, I was dismayed to see the crash site had no less than six three men patrols in my estimate. I bellied up the other bank and hid in a bush watching the patrols on my corner of the airfield. This is where my description will be lacking as it was so intense I couldn't possibly capture it in words.

I was able to get my feet against the fence and crawl sideways while keeping my eyes on the airfield patrols. There were so many I didn't think it was possible to get to the plane undetected. I made it to a parellel position with the plane with two patrols crossing each other in front of me. I finally found my hole in their patrol and entered the field on a diagonal line with the nose of the plane to provide cover from the guards stationed at the site. When I finally snugged up to the plane and completed my objective I had a look around and found that a patrol on my side had gotten way too close for comfort.

They were about 20-30 yards away and parellel with me with nothing in between us. The way those two patrols were criss crossing my only hope was to face them and back up as they advanced hoping that their pauses would create enough distance to stay far enough away. It did and I backed all the way to the wall beyond the field. The problem was the I had failed to take into account that they might come beyond the field perimeter. They did and I rued the decision not to use that bush I had been eyeing for cover.

I got the message that I'd been detected. I was able to take out two of them with my silenced Stoner sniper rifle before the third dropped behind that beautiful little bush of mine. Two carefully placed shots put the problem that was out of my sight, out of my mind. No patrols were close enough to have heard or seen the activity so I left the carcasses for the buzzards and continued north along the wall pausing for passing patrols until I was parellel on a westward line with the house.

I started crawling towards the back of the garage with flanking patrols on either side about 40 yards out. I had to stop quite a bit and look behind me to see how close they were getting on their return trip to the garage area. I finally snugged up between the garage and what I think my have been a busted up jeep (never really looked at it). I got inside the garage and had no sight on anyone in the window of the house much to my dissapointment. It had been way to long for this runner-gunner and patience was no longer a virtue, it was a nuisance. The words "STAGE A RAID ON THE HOUSE" were my mantra at this point.

I started to slither out of the garage only to find a patrol right out front on the left. Somehow they didn't see me and went their merry little way on an east bound patrol. As I crawled towards the house I put away the rifle in favor of my ridiculously lethal FN P90-SD killing machine. I spied a target in the upstairs window and I clicked the lead sprayer to single shot because this postman never rings twice. MISSION OBJECTIVE COMPLETE. What!! That was no raid. I'll give you a raid.

I almost made it to the breezeway connected to the side of the house when I looked at the map and saw activity I believed to be inside the house. It was never confirmed though because I took a single tap to the brainpan as I put the map away. I think it may have been a second guy in the window since that eastward patrol would have never covered that ground at the pace they travel and the patrol on the southwest was behind the rise. What a bummer.

I know I should have been dead but I had a repawn (sacreligious). I only had to get to evac at this point and that was at the normal insertion for the farm map. Given that I was dropped in the river it was a quick trip to get my battered bones outta that place. Even though I had been capped once I did accomplish a monumental feat in my gameplay by crawling through an entire mission just watching for openings and using them. Here are the stats.

Time: 45.14

Kills: 4

Shots: 5

Hits: 4

Accuracy: 80%

Deaths: 1 :wall:

You sure it wasn't 4 kills? The three in the patrol you took out and the tango in the window? Either that, or it's apparent the tango in the house didn't like the wolf at the door.

Nice work - I've never come close to completing that one, alone, or on a team.

No dice! I got to the house and staged the attack after having to kill 2 three man patrols. Completed raid on house and got capped so I went on a killing spree and killed 37 tangos before they pulled the plug on my mission. Rock wasn't able to do it with me but I'm not convinced that would help either.
