Introduction:

Anyone that has played Red Storm Entertainment games in recent years should be intimately familiar with the DTD name. Having made modifications for Rogue Spear and its expansion packs and now moving on to the newest RSE title, Ghost Recon. These past mods are the paragon of quality and have the effect of transforming the game that the modification was made for into a completely new and distinct entity. Some of their highly acclaimed mods include the Heckler and Koch International Training Division (RS/UO), U.S. Tac (RS/UO), Red Diamond Group (RS/UO), and a part in the massive total conversion Renegade Legion (RS/UO). Their last project was a foray into Ghost Recon modding, which any GR mod fan should be knowledgeable about, Israel Defense Forces or I.D.F. for the acronym prone. This mod was a true dedication to the men and women who serve as the vanguard of their embattled nation and would almost seem imperceptible that Ghost Recon modding could get any better.

Yet it has.

Content:

The ?No Easy Day? modification focuses on the present day war on terrorism and the operators of the ?coalition of the willing? whom are tasked on a daily basis with the treacherous duty of rooting out those despisable individuals and groups that would revel in inflicting similar events comparable in pain and suffering to those which occurred on September 11th, 2001.

Skins:

The special operations soldiers are mainly comprised of virtual 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (Delta or C.A.G.) and Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) operators. Each are kitted out in more civilian garb as seen when on VIP protection duty as well as the more familiar CQB attire. Combined with the enormous amount of attachments, each character has the ability to look even more unique. Additionally other coalition forces include British and Australian SAS operatives, British Royal Marines and Polish GROM counter-terrorism troopers, just to name a few. Numerous enemy skins have been created for use in custom missions as well. These are irregular, guerilla, and terrorist forces, as well as contemporarily outfitted soldiers of many Middle Eastern armies.

Cocobolo has done meticulous research in the efforts of creating as perfect and ostensibly accurate product as possible. In addition Jean-Michael Halpin of the specialoperations.com forums was indispensable for his technical expertise and proved a great asset to rely upon. Images were garnered from U.S. Defense Department official releases as well as the civilian press. Each rsb file really needs to be opened in Photoshop to grasp how perfect these skins truly are. Most everything contained within was not duplicated but put together from actual pictures of gear and fatigues and in some cases character models were modified for aesthetics.

I am in complete awe of this part of the mod.

Weapons:

The weapons and their textures, kit icons, sounds, et all the main department of the other three members of the team, Cobra6, WardenMac and Whisper_44, with a few made by Cocobolo. And while the weapons are somewhat more exotic than what you might see on the modern battlefield they are no less as impressive as the rest of the components of the modification. These tools of war range from tactically modified assault rifles to deadly accurate sniper weapons, devastating belt-fed machine guns and maneuverable sub-machine guns. In other words there is something for every type of player to fall in love with anew.

Missions:

Several new missions are provided for the players? enjoyment. The scenarios range form

V.I.P. protection duty to hostage rescues and search and destroy, in other words the full gamut of operations that the most elite units on the face of the earth might be called upon to undertake at a moments notice and at the behest of the national command authority. The DTD team has enlisted the help of some very talented scriptors to compile these harrowing exercises. Their names include the well-established Harntrox, Flanker56, X69RZX, and last but not least, Mamon; all of whom have put forth a great deal of time and effort to make their creations enjoyable for all.

The Rest:

Included for the users viewing pleasure are new menu screens and interface, credit images and load icon. All of which really create an excellent ambiance while utilizing the various menus within Ghost Recon. Additionally new music has been drafted in to further add to the atmosphere, most of which was obtained from the ?Black Hawk Down? soundtrack.

Bugs:

There are virtually none, even at the time of the team beta. A very impressive feat considering the amount of files involved and the very hefty download size. Some bugs may creep out but the DTD team will undoubtedly issue a patch, or more, should the need arise.

Conclusion:

They don?t come any better than this, the mod or it?s creators. I?ve known them for some time now and was as objective in writing this review as possible, but take what I wrote with a grain of salt. Do yourself a favor and give it a try on your own; I?m sure your conclusions will be of a similar nature as my own.

Thats not really the truth I downloaded both of them just if it was a bad download but I beileve its not the case. It may have a bug or 2 in the installer or in the mod itself but its still a great mod I just think a bug or 2 just slipped pasted Edited by Joker_USVN

>Reticle of 203 m16 dont appear correctly.like cut in half part.:(

Cuch there is a fix for the mp issues over at the dtd forums. Cocobolo ops

As for the mission an dthe Demo charges it's not a bug, killing the OpFor is a secondary way to finish the mission, if by chance you misplace your demo charges and do not have enough, then you can still finish the mission.

As for the other issues, a patch may be forthcoming.

Glad everybody likes the mod! The MP issue will be fixed by an official patch and also the installers will be updated to version 1.2 to indicate they have the patch included.

As for the M16, M16GL issues, you can either use the NED kit restrictions files for your weapons selection (those weapons aren't in the NED kit restrictions files) or you can open up the Equip folder in the mod's directory and delete the M16.gun, M16gl.gun, and M203.gun files. Those are basically slightly modified GR files, and aren't even in the No Easy Day kits. The only place you can see those is when you use the standard GR kits. This issue will also be adressed in the updated 1.2 version downloads.

The early beta was intended to use Island Thunder maps, but the final version does not require IT.

As for the first mission, no demo charges are needed for the first mission, which is NED-01 Stutter step. That's a Karzai protection and extract mission. Please read the briefings thoroughly as they contain vital info!

Thanks guys,

All in all, not bad.

Sorry Cocobolo but first mission requires extraction by chopper so the related files are necessary. Therefore even if NED doesn't use IT maps it needs IT activated <_<
