lexsis 0
hi, scattering trees and ground cover now. so how much is too much. I want as much as possible without causing major lag in (36 players) multiplayer games. should I scatter a 'number' of trees (like 100 or 200) or should I scatter 'per 10 square meters' (like maybe 5 or 6) as for the ground cover, I want much more of it than trees since this is where people will actually be hiding. also, could I reduce the posibility of lag by not animating the trees? and, if I use a low number of polys for the trees and ground cover would that help to? what should be the poly count for trees and ground cover? thnx. w()fare 0
you could put as much as you want depending on your map layout so long as the poly count value "x" does not exceed a value of "y" regardless of your line of sight / point of view at any position on the map that the computer has to draw . what that value is, is arbitrary to what you decide is "acceptable in a multi player mode considering factors of connection, ,graphics cards, computer config etc. Everybody (i think) has found their own "niche values" and i wouldnt say that any single one of them is "right", but "right " for what they are doing/ trying to create. so my best advice would be to play with variant copies from your base max file and see what works best for you once you plug them in the game the numbers? ill leave that for someone else to guess at
