Sachel Charge VS Vehicle

Recommended Posts

Upon direct reguest from the |S.O.T.O| SCDU (Demolitions) Department and myself, I asked SOTOMac to investigate the possibilities of acquiring a sachel charge type form of explosive ordinance other than the current available possibilities in GR. After a great deal of much appreciated feedback and response, the conclusion is that it IS possible and in development as we speak.

However, I am now inquiring into the possibility of usage of such device. I am hoping to find answers to my next set of questions. Since I am not a modder and will not pretend to be, I ask the following questions with a fairly naive and inexperienced pretense.

1. Is it possible to change the damage output of a weapon (i.e. Sachel Charge) to generate enough damage to effectively take out armor or AT specific targets usually countered by AT4's?

1a. Conversely, is it possible to change the vehicle hit point or kill damage required to attain the desired results?

2. Is it possible to change the damage output of that same weapon to generate enough damage to effectively "take out targets in, around, or near a building? Although I know the building itself cannot be destroyed, is it possible to eliminate threats "through walls" so to speak?

2a. Is it possible to do this through weapons modding itself and not some complicated mission specific scripting?

3. Is it possible to change the weapon damage type, such as changing a weapons "frag grenade" type output to a "AT4" type output?

3a. And lastly, if this IS possible, is it also possible to change the graphic animation type to that change? For example, can the sachel charge exposive animation be changed to an AT4 explosive animation?

Thank you all for the feedback previously and I hope to receive similar responses. The GR community is such a wonderful environment to be apart of and still amazes me with folks like you all.

Thank you again.

Respectfully,

1. - Yes. You must change the visual explosion to AT-4, and set the damage marginally high. Use the AT4 missile's damage as a guideline. However, you cannot destroy armored vehicles with a satchel charge (unless you're throwing it). The projectile must strike the vehicle in order for the vehicle to be destroyed.

1a. - I believe the answer here is no.

2. - Yes. In each projectile or hand-held item, there is a field called "Damage Through Walls Multiplier". This lets you scale the amount of damage done through solid objects.

3. - There are only two kinds of projectiles: Ballistic and Dumb Missile. A Ballistic projectile travels on an arc, and is affected by velocity and gravity. Hand grenades and launched grenades fall into this category. Dumb Missiles fly in on a straight path. The AT-4 is an example of a Dumb Missile. You can change the visual explosions, via the projectile editor (or the handheld item editor) in IGOR.

3a - Yes, you can change the visual explosion type. But remember, making a satchel charge explode and look like an AT-4 will not cause it to destroy armored vehicles. The projectile has to actually strike the vehicle to destroy it.

BTW-

Are you absolutely 100% sure that the weapon must strike the target? There is no way splash damage could destroy a tank at all? This question is probably my biggest concern in regards to the sachel charge.

I am not trying to doubt your excellent mod knowledge, especially compared to mine, I am just trying to find an alternative means to destroying armor other than AT's, among other things the mod weapon may do.

Yeah, I'm sure. :( I've tried it before, but with no success. Don't let that stop you from trying to find a way, though. I've been known to be incorrect before.

Thanks Para, I knew I could count on you getting back to me. Thanks for the info bro.

My pleasure.
