Dannik 43
You can either use/write a custom proxy server to remove the images, or you can use a browser that allows for image disabling/no-load if cached (like Opera).

NYR_32 6
Im confused.... with all the double negatives I have no idea what your trying to say...does the banner not load? And are you trying to figure out how to get it back? Or is it the opposite?
magnumkp 0
I get what you mean osokdfgr. The top section of the web site is not dynamic (i.e. server driven), it is just "there". The remainder of the site (i.e. the forums) is taken from the server according to clicks, who is online, what you have looked at etc etc. Does this help or am I off the mark? Dannik 43
magnupkp has it essentially correct. The top image does reload, but it does so quickly that it doesn't appear to "blip" like the dynamic content (forums, etc) do, since the dynamic content needs to query the server, SQL database, and generate on the fly every time, while the logo up top (and the accompanying buttons) are just simple graphics in an html "wrapper". Rocky 1,224
I am confused too, do you mean when you opena new page at GR.net the top banner is not loading - i.e. it is just a red x? Is that what happens?

Dannik 43
...with a little help from IPB and some good friends. Rocky, have you looked into the new IPB Dynamic Lite feature of the newer builds of InvisionBoard? We've switched from a Nuke based site to just a hacked IPB 1.3 format, and it's worked out well. Just an idea.
Super-Bob 0
Rocky, have you looked into the new IPB Dynamic Lite feature of the newer builds of InvisionBoard? We've switched from a Nuke based site to just a hacked IPB 1.3 format, and it's worked out well. Just an idea. To use it we would have to: 1. Upgrade 2. Recode lots of stuff 3. Rely even more heavily on a database thats too big to backup Starting from scratch its really good. I use on sites, and made a mod to have DB driven pages in the IPDL wrapper. It looks like you use seperate php pages, which I'm guessing is a pain to maintain when trying to make it part of IPDL.
Super-Bob 0
how do you get the logo to not reload on each page? We COULD disable the no-cache headers, so that the common stuff would be taken from your local cache....
firefly2442 0
If I may ask, how big is that database that you have setup for the forum? And of course all the avatar uploads..... that's a lot of space. Just curious.
