How to.. Subscibe on topic,

Recommended Posts

As for im a regular visitor on these forums id liked to get notified on new post in subscribed items, viewed in the MyControls>ViewTopics menu. But without receiving notification by email. My hotmail-account is way above storagelimits, and no fun cleaning the mess up.

So is it possible to subscibe without email-notification?

And so, how? Cuz i was clicking the <Enable 'Email Notification' by default?> button on/off and still receiving mails when subscribed.

Thanks!

Under IPB, subscription is email notification. There is no other method of notifying the end user that there have been updates.

The global setting works for general email updates, but when you subscribe, the IPB forums email. There's no alternative, unless someone decides to add RSS feeds on a per-topic basis... which Rocky will kill me for mentioning.

I am a little confused - how else would you recieve notification other than e-mail?

About stopping the notices, in your Control Panel Subscriptions > View Topics > checkbox all the threads you wish to Unsubscribe to, and click Unsubscribe.

Another solution for you could be to use an e-mail account that doesn't have the restrictions your hotmail account has.

If you click the My Assistant link at the top right, that would show you all the new posts since your last visit or the top 10 threads, or the threads you have posted in, stuff like that. Not sure if that is of use to you - it is a neat feature.

You shouldn't be getting any emails though unless you specified that you wanted an email in your control panel, and if you did you can swicth them off as I explained above.

Hope that helps!
