WytchDokta 6
I was out doing a bit of christmas shopping today....I headed straight for my "GAME" store (as I always do). As soon as I walked in, I headed for the "New Releases" rack (as usual). Nothing good on there I like. So, out of interest, I turn to the PC charts rack. Their chart is based on the most bought games.... Guess what was at #1.... You would not believe it!! Hidden and Dangerous 2 was at #1!!Seriously!! CoD was at #2 but only just selling less copies than H&D2....I was disappointed to see Worms 3D was down there at #7....I did tell you guys to go buy W3D, but no, you wouldn't listen! You don't know the fun you are missing.... I was quite surprised to see H&D2 was at #1.... I did tell you all that H&D2 is better than CoD, and this is all the proof I need.... Syncopator 0
Other way about in Glasgow store - was in today. Odd. They just pump whichever needs shifting most for that store's stock room at number one - trust me thats how it works. Your store must have surplus H&D2 - Glasgow must have hunners of CoD (since I wouldnt buy a game out of a shop for love nor money - theiving beggars...Amazon all the way) END of Plug. WytchDokta 6
Like the music charts...they say "based on national charts" in the stores, yet it varies from store to store....
Dick Splash 23
Easy now Nightmare........what's all this CoD hating banter CoD is a top arcade FPS, and H&D is a top FPS sim. Imerse yourself in the genre and you'll see that CoD is morrrrre than fish DS [CoD HQ]
WytchDokta 6
Lol, I'm only getting my own back. Alot of ppl (not necessary at these forums) been slagging off H&D2....
magnumkp 0
In PC World Max Payne 2 was head of the charts.
WytchDokta 6
Lol, that's what I'm talking about. Why does it vary? Why can't they just one national chart....
Dick Splash 23
Why does it vary? lol.......because in most cases the publisher pays the buyer to have their titles in a store's charts. They pay them extra to have their games displayed in store windows or to have them on the aisle facing the door, where they get most exposure. When 'Game' show forthcoming releases or when Woolworth's and Comet advertise in the Friday papers it's because the publishers have paid for it. Buyers aren't doing them a favour DSG [Dixons Stores Group] is Britains biggest retailer, comprising Dixons, Curry's and PC World. It's a publisher's biggest account and buy more units than any other buyer. However, because of their power, they get the biggest discounts and they have an unofficial 100% SOR [sale or Return] policy. ie if they still have your games on the shelves weeks and months down the line then you'll be getting them back and crediting them. It costs money to have games taken off shelves and returned to a distributor [Centresoft - in Birmingham] and often their will be damaged cases etc. An alternative would be for the publisher to credit a buyer and work with them to discount or bundle the games. This applies more to PC games. As you know they tend to drop to half their initial RRP after around twelve months. An exception to this would be Microsoft games, which tend to hold value and still sell steadily a long time after launch. Aaaaagh the grim face of capitolism .......listen to Sync people and buy online. Make your 'own' mind up.............feeeeeeel the forrrrrrrce DS Edited December 2, 2003 by Dick Splash
supasniper 0
i buy online but you can't beat a PC game store for looking around to see what takes your fancy
WytchDokta 6
One thing I don't understand about some of you CoD'ers..... Some of CoD'ers posted in the GR2 forum stating that you won't buy GR2 if it has a first person weapon view. Now, correct me I'm wrong, CoD has a first person weapon view. So lemme get this straight:- You won't buy GR2 if it has a FPWV, but you have bought CoD and that has a FPWV? ######? Hmmmm....I sense a big contradiction here.... Cobblers 12
Well I like COD, I won't deny it, but for me it's just a game to take the strain off of having to wait for GR2 to come tbh. Besides, COD isn't really a pro-tatical game, it's just lot's of fragging fun imo. But for GR2 I wouldn't like to see the weapon, in fact, if all games were like this I 'd be a very happy bunny. But even though people may state that if GR2 has the FPWV that they won't buy it, well I think that's a load of old cods wallop myself. Everyone that REALLY liked GR1 will be buying the new version without a doubt. I'll be on of the first people at my local GAME store the morning it comes out, and I'm sure I will take a few days off work so that I get to play it to death too! WytchDokta 6
It still don't explain why Worms 3D was down there at a measly #7. It should be at least in the top 3. When I posted here about W3D before the game was released, there was a massive hype. Everybody was saying they wanted to get it. So, what do they do when the game is released? That's right, you've guessed it, THEY DON'T GO BUY THE GAME!! They come out with feeble excuses like: "Ugh I gots no money". Well howcome they got enough to buy other games like CoD then? Oh yeah, I know why ppl aint buying W3D...i'ts becuase W3D has a first person weapon view (when you press and hold the "Q" key). FPWV's aint realistic and W3D aint meant to be realistic. So that's why it has a FPWV.

WytchDokta 6
Who says I'm taking it personally? Taking it personally and saying it how it is are two completely different things.
magnumkp 0
Maybe they played the demo and realised the game was crap. I can't remember that many people saying they were going to buy Worms 3D (not round these parts anyhoo), I think it was only you kept going on and on about it.
WytchDokta 6
I didn't keep going on and on about it! So don't you try that one on me! I posted a thread in this very forum and ppl said they would buy it! Therefore, that's not me going on and on about it....Yes, I mentioned (on a few occasions) that ppl should buy W3D in this thread. But in the CoD thread, ppl have said buy CoD more times than I have buy Worms 3D and do you have a go at those ppl for that? No you don't!! See, when any of you guys say like "that's an amazing game" (with referance to any game), people just carry on posting away as normal. But when I do it, ppl start slagging me off!! I'm public enemy #1 again I guess....
WhiteKnight77 1
Since we don't know what GR2 has or does not have as far as an aiming system, we can't really comment on how much we would like it or whether or not if we would buy it. My beloved R6 series of games never had a FPWV and when R6:3 came out with it, I never went past the demo. I hope that GR2 doesn't have it honestly as it is a TacSim and not an arcade shooter. While I do like the way CoD does the iron sights (and which I do find pretty accurate BTW) I really do not want a FPWV in any game I play. The weapon model just takes up monitor real estate and isn't right for TacSims at least. Just my 2 cents worth.
