Thumper1518 62
I found where Knights Armament developed an RIS/RAS for the M1A/M14. Here is my take on it: In both reguler and -SD versions. I'm thinking of putting it out as an add-on to my 7.62mm Mod and posibly as a stand-alone version. Thoughts, additional toys to connect to it?
Whisper_44 0
First in Line voting for a stand alone version, but either way. very nice job looks nickel plated tho?
soup31314 0
@Thumper1518 When I was looking up the XM-8 rail system I found that same thing. REALLY good job.
dboy 0
suggest make Troy Ind SOPMOD M14 http://troyind.com/Sopmod/SOPMOD%20M-14.htm Moderator edit - Image was too wide for forum boundaries, link below: http://troyind.com/images/black_closed.jpg Edited November 22, 2003 by Pyro_Monty
swifty 0
damn that's pretty thumper.. here's a totally wacky idea.. for right handers, you could move the LAM to the left side of the gun, put the aimpoint (or reflex or holosight) on the right, and an acog/cqt/elcan/whatever on top. I've seen the occasional AR setup where you can hold the gun butt at your shoulder but rotated ghetto style so the gun is sideways.. peek through the aimpoint for cwb, potshots with the zoomed optics on top. I know it sounds wack but sure would be original. but hell yeah, release it like you released the m14 dmr and you'll find lots of happy people. Of course, doing up that sopmod version would be killer as well, hehe..

Suicide Commando 0
That looks totally awesome Thumper. How 'bout adding this instead of that plain old grey and the RIS? It's be totally, completely, absolutely perfect then. -edit- Troy extended Edited November 21, 2003 by Suicide Commando
deleyt 0
Here is my take on it: Ver, very sweet model Thumper. I really like the textures on the regular one.
Suicide Commando 0
OT Actually now that I look at in the image I posted of the Troy Industries M14CQB, is it just me or does the scope appear like it's on backwards?

Tollen 0
(I promise, I have been sitting in IGOR and PSD since wednesday to do as much work as possible, and I haven't even touched the GR-icon on my desktop (not much anyway...=) !) Thats some nice looking rifles Thumper. But I would also like to go against the tide and say that the guns should be an add-on to the 7.62-MOD. But if you decide to make both the M14 RIS/RAS, the M14 SOPMOD and SC's M1, then you got an entirely different MOD. But that's up to you.
Thumper1518 62
Food for thought, Tollen. @SC: I agree that the Troy M14CQB looks like the scope is on backwards, but I think the zoom-power ring is what is making the scope look like it is reversed, when it is not. The scope must not have a large objective lens, making it a short-range daylight only scope (or at least that is my best guess). I am going to return to SWEBAT work this weekend (and finish the KSP58) before I go back with fresh eyes and tweak the M1a-Tactical. Too bad it does not have an RIS underneath 'cause Snowfella's M900 would look great under the thing. Edited November 22, 2003 by Thumper1518
swifty 0
an addon to the 7.62 mod is definitely the way to go, just like with the m14 dmr. I wish more modders added things here and there to their mods, hehe. as far as toys to hang off of it, how about putting an IR illuminator from the sopmod kit onto the opposite side of the visible/laser? Also, any plans for a scout model (moving the aimpoint farther up the barrel)? the RIS + scout seems the ultimate cqb m14 variant to me...
Suicide Commando 0
Too bad it does not have an RIS underneath 'cause Snowfella's M900 would look great under the thing. You could always model the Troy Ind. M14 and put it on. I'm still dyin to get those HK's you made, specifically the MP5SD and HK53.
Thumper1518 62
It seems like there might be room for a "Springfield Armory" or "M14 & Friends" Mod. Who knows...... XM25, M21, M14 DMR, M14, M1a Scout, M1a Tactical, Troy M14 SOPMOD. 1911's also. "

SnowFella 8
ummmm....FIVE! And then this might interest you mate Springfield M25 pics
Thumper1518 62
Does this appear interested? The XM-25 (Hathcock model) with the 4-14x56 scope and Harris bipod. (Did I mention the full thing comes in around 1600 poly's?) I think I will be re-doing several models soon. I think a true M14 DMR and an M14e will be coming soon, based on what I can scrounge up.
