Detail Textures

I have set up a composite and a detail texture after Dr.Jeckyls video turtorial, but I have a problem. It won't show up in-game. The only thing I can see seems to be the base texture...which is all green. :(

I made a 512*512 base texture in photoshop and saved it as a .rsb.

And my detail texture is the one from M01. I follow the turtorial exactly, but have a little problem when DR.J put his texture on the ground. Does he drag the base or the detail texture to the ground? Anyway I think I have tried to drag both of them but nothing seems to work.

What I'm sure and have double checked is that I have checked map channel 2 both in the material editor and in the modify window after I read that EL_Oso had some troubles with this.

Also I read at theplatoon.com that there was some problems with detail texture in 4.2 of Max I think. I'm using version 5.

Anyone have a idea what I'm doing wrong here, or is it just a nice bug?

Yes Zeko, I did name it, and I have two UVW maps on it. Tried to assign only base texture to ground. Exported it and loaded it both in igor and in the lighting tool. Still only a full green landscape.

Also double checked so I had map channel 2 set both places.

This .rsb base texture, do I have to do anything special with it when saving it in photoshop?

U don't have to do nothing special with base texture. Did u tile your detail texture? U gotta tile it to value 20 (both U and V tile) but that is for big map like 400x400 meters i think (not sure). Dunno if it's important but do u have your detail texture in map folder?

Yes, tried to tile it up to 30*30. Have both detail and base texture in my working map folder. Still nothing to see.

I bet 5$ this is a stuid little mistake I do....anyone in? :rolleyes:

I was having the same problems and it was because I had the wrong exporter. Apparently the one that ships with the DS cd doesn't export the composite textures correctly. If you think this is the problem let me know and I'll send you the correct file.

That can very well be my problem H-Hour, cause I'm using the one from the DS cd. If you could send it to me I would really appreciate it.

Hehe...a map is under construction...think Deleyt have seen a bit of it. Still needs a crapload of work, but I wanna do it right the first time. Maybe I will put up a couple of screens here in a while...

Well, I got the plugin from H-Hour today and put it in, fired up Max, did just like I did last night...exported it, fired the map up in igor...and voila! The detail texture was there! :lol:

Thank you very much H-Hour! It's people like you that makes the GR community to what it is today!

Was weird I couldn't find someone else that had the same problem somewhere on the forums, but now it's solved and next time we know if someone asks!
