when i made earlier maps i selected my entire ground mesh excluding objects and tagged it as a floor. Even when the angle was close to 90 degrees, my actor went up the "cliff" easily. And I know that you cant use the climbable option in the map editor, so i decide to replace climbing animation with what works in GR. I placed a non-rendered, floor tagged rectangle just in front of the ladder at about a 70 degree angle, bu the guy wont go up, it's like he is running into something. Is he hitting the ladder mesh before the rectangle? And if so, I know i have to make the ladder either non-2d or non-3d collideable, but which?

I made ladders like this in an earlier map I made. I just had to get the angle right. You do have it tagged correctly though. If you tag it non 2d collidable then it wont function as a floor and non 3d collidable will just make it able to be shot through.

It would seem that common sense-wise, the ladder object is making a 2d collision line at its base which is why you are being blocked. You may want to try using a non rendered step at the base to get over the collision line. I really didnt play around with the ladder idea too much other than changing the angle.

The game engine can be tricky sometimes imo and you may have to try a few things before you get it to work the way you want. I was actually planning on revisiting the ladder idea on a map I have planned so I may end up trying it out again soon myself. Keep me posted on what you come up with if you dont mind. Good luck

Thanks Sleeper, got my character to go up, but now he falls throught the floor of the watchtower. I have it tagged as a floor, so I must have a gap between the tower floor and the top of the ladder somewhere. I almost have it.
