Ghost Recon vs. SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs

Ok i must admit i am a fan of both Ghost Recon and SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs - just picked SOCOM II up on release day a couple days back and I have been playing it online for almost all my free time since! So my question is this: in all honesty which franchise will be able to survive longer? I think I have to go with SOCOM II here as I think there will be more activity online. What do you think?

I'm afraid I have to disagree, GR is still on top with a very large and loyal community and with the rumors of a GR 2 I believe it will stay that way for quite awhile longer.

I'm sure that the Socom 2 will do well and may even sway some GR fans to that side but when and if GR 2 hits the shelves if it's what I hope it will be then you can say bye bye to most of the other games that call themselves tactical shooters.

if you're asking which series will get more money and purchases, SOCOM, because its a console game. They always have higher numbers.But if you're saying which is better, GR, by far. a voice-system doesnt automatically change things.

GR is the only game that I have continually played for over a year. We're hitting on two this christmas. I got SOCOM about a year ago, and to be honest it kept my interest for about four months. I'm gonna get the second one, and I'll have fun with it, but not to the extent of GR.

Well I can't play a FPS with a controller to save my life - literally, virtually speaking (heh, how's that for an oxymoron )

Now, where was I Oh yes - controllers. I struggled with that SOCOM demo for ages and it drove me crazy. As far as I can find out UT2003 is the only PS2 game so far to avail itself of the PS2's USB functionality and support mouse and keyboard In the meantime I'll have to stick to the PC for my FPS nutrition

Although I really love GR, I'm gonna be picking up Socom II soon so I can kick some more terrorist ass across the globe again.

I'm not gonna abbandon GR though, I'll still light the candle on the GR2 praying shrine everyday......whenever I'm done playing Socom II that is.

Of course just like every game, you leave GR to play it and when your done with your fill of it you flock back to GR.

I have played both gr and Socom, but i leane mor towards Socom. i got Socom II after all rather then gr. I almost did not get it due to i was a beta Tester for the online aspect of Socom II and the boots were pretty bad. But i was able to get my hand son teh demo of Socom II and yeah what a big improvment on the game. That's why i got Socom II. The online play is excellent.

Also on most of the servers you can find tactical games going on which imo beat out gr on the tactical aspect.

I say pick the game up if you have the money for it or even trade in gr
