Realism guns anyone make them yet

Recommended Posts

Agreed - it is indeed impossible to make this in the GR engine. I entertained some solutions to the problem a while ago but decided all of them were bad and would take away far more realism than they added (tampering with mag counts and such). It's sad because I'd love to see the weapons modeled more like they are in AAO

You could always put in a random counter that would replace a players weapon with a 0-mag version for a certain amount of time (then give them the proper version again) ! :D

In fact you could have it as a small chance every time you fired at the enemy .....ummm .... (ideas pop into my head) - you would have to resrict the players to only one type of weapon - but thats not a major pain in a campaign/mission....... (he he, hello my LAN group........).

You could Import the scripting from mission to mission .... (better stop thinking about this before I get lynched by my group).

Whats AAO by the way ?

THat's exactly what I was toying with... But I found the idea too unflexible. I didn't like how it would come out in game.

AAO is America's Army: Operations - an online game licensed by the US Army as a sort of recruiting tool, people play online and get a taste for the military life. You build a portfolio and develop Your soldier's skills, have him take courses and classes and so on.

The best part about AAO is the weapons modeling, IMHO. It has a relaxed carry mode, and with a click of a button You bring Your sights up and can have 3D iron sights on. Then click again and the sight is gone, You're free to look and move around. The weapons jam and You have to unclog them by using immediate action. It's very well implemented indeed and I enjoy playing it, however much I suck.
