X69RZX
Really nice work. I have been working on a '71 Chevy p/u as my learning tool for 3dsm. I have a question, what size are those vehicle models? Like meters across. I seem to have alot of trouble working in small spaces in 3dsm. I am curious ho you get such detail. The smoothness of the chevrolet written in cursive. The shape of the '57 seats. Very nice, very interesting.
[GRT1]Kpl.Eli
The models (chevy and Ford) are not bigger then a box of cigarettes. I use a Mesh Smooth on the models just before I go to the texturing or painting like the Chevy/Ford. Kp
[GRT1]Kpl.Eli
My last creation, I made it today and it took me about 7 hours to make. I love this van for years, but hard to get here in europe, and when then with a lot of rust on it, so I decided to make 1 in 3dsm5 Took the Original Astro Van Model, that I had already, Author: Unknown, and then changed, or made the things new, that I would like to have when I had it for real. I worked on this model with Raytrace, and bump maps. This to get the right touch to the model. kp EDIT: --> Now I will wait for somebody else with his scenes, that he will post here. just wondering if I'm the only 1 who make them, or not?? [GRT1]Kpl.Eli
The above Chevrolet Astro Van is in its final stage, used a more realistic glass, and also use a more metalic paint on the body. @Texan: when you need help or have some questions, then just drop a line. Marcinko
Kpl, those scenes are absolutly amazing, must have taken you hours? need a 1967 Shelby GT 500 Mustang.
[GRT1]Kpl.Eli
Those models u make with splines, you take a blueprint, from for example www.suurland.com and then crop all the images till they have the same size. Then you start moddeling. You make only 1 side of the car, the otherside u copy. So that you will have after some hours the body of the car. Then you can build in if you want to the innerlife into the car. and model all the parts like headlights number plates, windows etc etc. You can use bump maps for texturing of the tires, but its not so diffilcult to make the tires with a profile, so then you dont have to use bump maps at all. (ok it will raise the polycount). @Marcinko, well then you should start making 1,... Kp Edited November 27, 2003 by [GRT1]Kpl.Eli
deleyt
The reason for me asking you for a wireframe, is that I'm having doubts about the models you claim to be done by your hand. I'd recognize that '57 Chevy from miles away, since it was the first model I downloaded from Digimation when I started with 3DSM. Why you are claiming it to be your work, is a mystery to me though. Here's the wireframe and render from the '57 Chevy done by the original creator Viewpoint DataLabs (distributed by Digimation): Compare the wireframes if you want, I did.....and guess what, even the errors are exactly the same. Yes, there is an error in that model: check the bodywork slightly right of the left front wheel. You'll notice a "dent" there. In the scene you're presenting, that "dent" is there too. I think you just got caught with your pants down
[GRT1]Kpl.Eli
First of all I didnt said I made the Chevy 57! I only used this chevy, that I found on the net to placed it into a scene. This to try all the possibilities that I could become by using different light settings. So, bro, next time do your homework and read the thread a bit more before you put down your conclusions. And why is your name underneath those wireframes "by [GRT1]Kpl.Eli" then? And where is the reference to the original creator? Anyway, you made clear that the models are not yours and that's good enough for me. So of the work you showed, what did you actually model? [GRT1]Kpl.Eli
Well Deleyt, not going to explain somebody, who still cant read right, but ok that can happen. But I will not make this all to a hype, and make it to a never ending discussion, with all the things that can happen then. and above all to keep it friendly. Well, 1 thing I want to say, before I close this chapter: * First never saw any Scene you made! * I dont have to hide for the things I made! * I doubt it, that u didnt used anything that you didnt made. Chapter closed! Kp

You explained how you modeled it, with the interiour and the splines 'n all, first making one side of the car and then copying it to the other side. You ARE saying you modeled it, right there. There's nothing wrong in setting up a scene and posting it. It's quite fun. But at least mention that you borrowed the objects from a 3D-library instead of leaving the assumption you made it. To answer your questions: 1) Read THIS THREAD and look at the work there. 2) You don't have to hide the things you made....but what did you actually make? 3) If I use anything made by someone else, I'll be sure to mention it. That is general courtesy. Anyway...happy "modeling"
