AustinS 0
I want to add to add SVD + Silencer to the game to add more variety to the silenced sniper rifles in the game. I already have the kit files, gun file, and sound made for the gun, and I was wondernig if there was a way to take the original SVD model and add a silenecer to it. It's not that big of a change, and I don't want to have remake the entire model just to put a silencer on it. Is there any way of getting around it?
dekela 0
as far as i'm aware, no it can't be done. the gun would have to be re-made in 3dmax and exported again. i could be wrong though cheers......

AustinS 0
Wow, very nice looking model and skin. You did an excellent job of recreating the Dragunov + Silencer. I have 3DSM 4.2 and I've worked on maps before but never weapons. If you wouldn't mind sending me a .3ds file as a guide that'd be great. I wouldn't plan on actually using the file in my mod, all I want to do is use the original Dragunov skin and recreate the model from scratch. I just want to mess around with the weapon model file to get an idea of how to make it. Edited October 27, 2003 by AustinS

AustinS 0
Did you make all of the GR guns from scratch or is there a way of converting qob files? I was thinking about adding a silencer to some of the other guns too, do you think you could send me a couple of 3ds files? I was thinking about adding a silencer to AK47, SA80, and OICW along with the SVD. I wouldn't mind learning how to add the silencer myself if you have the original gun models. My mod is coming along great and hopefully the new guns, models, and kits will make it a lot funner. IF_GRT if you could send me your 3ds max file of the dragunov silencer that'd be great, my email is Austin_Schoeder@Yahoo.com! Thanks again!!

AustinS 0
I've finally managed to make the SVD + Silencer and export it into Ghost Recon without any texture problems. And I plan to make silencers for the M82, and PSG-1 next. Although I'm having trouble positioning his hands to hold the gun right, is there a tutorial on the helper pointers or maybe someone has an example in 3ds max they could send me? Thanks for everything!
swartsz 7
one i found very useful was the 5th video tutorial by Pain. but after having troubles with the Helperpoints a lot myself, i can tell you it is most of all a trial and error process. export your model, have a look at the handplacement in GR and if you feel it isn't right, go back and move the points around until they do fit. AustinS 0
Another thing that I noticed is that when he puts away the rifle, it disappears completely. Then when he pulls it out it appears out of no where. Do I need to tell max where to put the gun away when he switches weapons? Is there a helper pointer for that too? STU_Snake 0
Another reminicent I would like to see would be a 3.57 Magnum, or from Hitman series, a Hardballer, great for shooting guys through a steel door
