stormcrow
Having recently bought a brand spanking new GF4 Ti4600 (chaintech) I was unaware of the nightmare that NVidia drivers can inflict on certain system configurations. Nvidia know that their drivers are ropy too.......... "Currently, there's a problem with all available NVidia drivers. It is somehow related to AGP and Linux systems use and will cause 99% CPU use shortly after startup, effectively locking up your computer" So my 200 quid GF4 is still awaiting a succesfull instal after freezing up OS and causing me to blue screen and jamming my boot up sequence. My system is fine now and running better that ever, but without its new GF4.... Edited January 31, 2003 by stormcrow
Dark Ranger
What motherboard are you using? I was running an ASUS A7V333 before my mobo switch and now I have an ASUS A7N8X and stil running with no problems. The new WHQL drivers are crap...so I'm using the 29.42 for Windows 2K and it seems to be the most stable driver they have...I am even getting better frame rates than the 40.72 and 41.09 before. Just out of curiousity, what OS are you running?

Killa_N_Manila
What drivers have you tried, did you already try the 29.42? Personally I use the 41.09, don't have a prob but the 29.42 are better and more stable...
stormcrow
41.09 didn't make any difference unfortunatley...........
XRW_Hotdog
i was using the same 41.90 drivers and found my performance dropped, so i went and reinstalled the 30.3 drivers that were shipped with my albatron and my games are running faster now. what drivers were shipped with your chaintech? Piccolo
Gay as in Homosexual? Listen, I know there are certain slang terms used by pretty much anybody, but using a persons sexual preference in a derogitory fashion is just uncalled for. People should really think about what they are saying instead of buying into the latest fad.. It's like the whole ebonics thing, white kids who never been to the ghetto "Speak" it, for no reason other then to be cool/whatever.

Piccolo
No worries, Storm. It's not a big deal, but I get alittle frustrated with the whole thing sometimes. Btw, I have a Chaintech GF-4 TI4600 and it runs fine with the 41.09 drivers. I'm running it with Windows 98, however.
Apollo
Wasn't something mentioned about Linux in the original post? Last time I checked, the drivers were available but WITHOUT support. That should have been enough info to deduce that they don't meet nVidia's quality control standards.
